2.GCPS 9th Grade-Life Skills (Standards 3.A, 3.B, 3.C) Develop skills to recognize depression and its potential risks, including the identification of possible signs of suicidal behaviors.
Objectives:
1. Each student will be able to identify his/her designated school counselor.
2. Each student will create a 4 year graduation plan and commit to following it.
3. Each student will be able to recognize the signs of depression/suicide and commit to telling a trusted adult when those signs are noticed in peers.

Plan for Evaluation: How will each of the following be collected?
Process Data:All 9th grade students will participate in a 52 minute counseling core curriculum lesson regarding graduation planning and depression/suicide prevention through their language arts classes.
Perception Data:Students will be given a pre-test and post-test. Differences in scores prior to the lesson and at the conclusion of the lesson will be compared to determine knowledge gained.
Outcome Data:Along with the results of the perception data, 80% of 9th grade students will pass all of their classes and be promoted to 10th grade.
Follow Up: Counselors will follow-up through individual counseling/individual student planning as the needs become evident.
