Supplies

All students are required to bring the following supplies to class every day. This includes students who will be receiving a laptop:

·  2 Spirals (1 for each Semester) (can be kept in class)- I supplied the 1st semester spiral. Students are required to buy their spiral for the 2nd semester on their own.

·  Pencil and Eraser

·  School Laptop

Students who pay the deposit/insurance will receive their laptops on September 16th. Students who do not check out a laptop will be expected to bringing a binder/folder for notes or paper copies. A graphing calculator for use at home is helpful, but not necessary.

Textbooks

Students should check out a text book to keep at home. They do NOT need to bring it to school each day. The book is also available on CD or online, however I highly encourage students to pick up a book. Students should be aware that computer/internet problems will not excuse them from homework assignments.

Students may log-on to the book at http://my.hrw.com Username: kfeagle Password: kfeagle

Teacher-Led Tutoring

After-school Tutoring will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays of most weeks from 2:30-3:30. If the student needs tutoring for a later time, the student must tell me in advance. If I am unable to stay for tutoring any day, I will tell students in advance.

Tests and Reteach/ Retest

Standard test days are Monday and Wednesday. Tests are allowed on other days with principal approval.

3 Unit Tests major grades will be given each six weeks are could be a combination of tests and projects. The average of these grades will make up the major grade component.

Summative assessments are typically given each six weeks. Summative tests are cumulative and serve as retesting over concepts covered during the six weeks. If the summative assessment score is higher than a unit test, it will serve as a replacement grade to give the student an opportunity to improve his/her overall average.

A student can decide to do test corrections to raise their grade on a unit test. ALL problems missed must be solved on a SEPARATE sheet of paper with all work shown. Half credit will be given for problems corrected.

Test corrections will count for half of the points they originally were worth for academic students. Test corrections will count for quarter of the points they originally were worth for Pre-AP students.

Projects

We may have up to but not exceeding three during each semester. Pre-AP/GT students may receive more. They may fit into the Quiz/Daily category or the Major grade category.

Student Absence Procedure

Students are allowed the same number of days that they were absent to make-up homework.

If a test is missed, the student should make it up as soon as possible to maximize performance. Two weeks is the typical make-up time limit for testing.

Late Work Procedure

Homework received late will be graded10 points off a day for up to 5 days.

Daily Work and Projects received late will attain a penalty of 10 points off a day for up to 5 days.

Grade Repair

Students will have the opportunity to receive instruction to recover six weeks grades. When a student enrolls in the Grade Recovery Class, the students will receive quality instruction. The curriculum will recapture any skills they are lacking so that they are prepared to receive credit and also be prepared for the EOC/TAKS in April or May. This intervention plan may include students attending after school Grade Recovery or Grade Recovery during the day. The highest grade a student can earn is 75. This grade will replace the lower grade. Students enrolled in Pre-AP courses may enroll in grade repair and receive Pre-AP credit for up to 1 six weeks per semester. Students enrolled in AP courses may enroll in grade repair and receive AP credit for up to 1 six weeks per semester. AP courses will have the following additional requirements in order to recover the grade and GPA point value: list writing assignment students will need to complete.
