Winter’s Eve - 7th Annual Juried Art Exhibit

DECEMBER 4, 2017 –December 29, 2017

JUROR – MIM BROOKS FAWCETTjoined the Attleboro Arts Museum as Executive Director and Chief Curator in July 2006. The Attleboro Arts Museum delivers 8 -10 annual exhibitions of art, arts education programs, and unique cultural experiences to visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Ms. Fawcett has focused her efforts on heightening the Museum’s profile in the region and providing outstanding and diverse exhibits and multidisciplinary arts initiatives to promising and professional artists. She encourages visitors to explore the wonders and challenges of art through classes, gallery talks and workshops designed to stretch creative thinking.

Ms. Fawcett actively serves as a leader for the City of Attleboro’sExpo for the SensesandWinter Night Festivals– bringing thousands of visitors to Attleboro’s downtown for memorable celebrations of the arts. Additionally, she is a lively partner in the City of Attleboro’sBig Read, a National Endowment for the Arts literacy initiative, curating related exhibitions, conducting arts workshops and designing communications that expand the experience of connecting with great literature.

She is a frequent guest juror for galleries, museums and arts organizations throughout New England – such as Galatea Fine Art (SoWa) Boston/New England Collective; Blanche Ames National Juried Art Show, and the Cape Cod Museum of Art's first juried exhibition,Breaking the Mold.

The Winter’s Eve 2017“Juror’s Award” includes a SOLO 2018Exhibit at the gallery.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Exhibition: Monday, December 4 to Friday,December 29, 2017
  • Opening reception: Thursday, December 7, 6pm – 8pm
  • Submittal Deadline: Saturday, November 11, midnight
  • Notification of Acceptance: Saturday, November 25
  • Delivery of Accepted Work: Thursday, November 30, 4-6pm and Friday December 1,10-noon
  • Pickup of exhibited work: Saturday December 30, 10-noon

ELIGIBILITY:Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces for consideration. A maximum of two pieces may be selected for hanging.

HOW TO SUBMIT: Complete and email the following items to, with “WINTER’S EVE 2017” in the subject line:the required Artwork Submission Form, with JPEG images of artworks (3) submissions max per artist attached. JPEGS should be 6 inches in the larger direction at 300 ppi labeled with the title of artwork only. Questions? Contact .

ARTWORK: There is NO required theme.All work must be “exhibition ready” to install with appropriate hardware (no saw tooth hangers or clips). Work that does not adhere to the guidelinesor is deemed not to be a faithful representation of the image submitted will not be exhibited. Maximum size of 40” framed in any direction.No sculpture. PLEASE NOTE: the Library’s gallery is a public space and artwork must be "appropriate" to viewers of all ages. The Friends of East Greenwich Free Library may refuse to hang any artwork that is deemed inappropriate.

FEE:With your artwork submission form, as a fundraiser for the Library, a $10entry fee per piece or $25 for three pieceswill be payable (send check to the Friends of East Greenwich Free Library or make payment via Paypal). Paypal can be accessed through the website “Winter’s Eve” tab.

SALES & COMMISSION: Price provided by the Artist will be reproduced, along with Artist contact information,on a pricelist for handout. Sales will involve the buyer and seller only. Neither the Friends nor the Library will be party to the transaction. All pieces must remain until the end of the exhibit. No commission is required by the Friends of East Greenwich Free Library.Artists receive 100% of the sale price.Over 400 patrons visit the Library daily! NFS acceptable.

LIABILITY:While the Friends will take all possible care in the handling of artwork, the Artist assumes total responsibility for the safety and security of his/her work while on display at the East Greenwich Free Library and shall not hold the Library or the Friends of East Greenwich Free Library or any of its officers, agents, volunteers, or members liable for any damage or loss during the period the artwork resides on Library premises. Work should be independently insured by the Artist.

USAGE RIGHTS:By submitting images, you are giving the Friends of the East Greenwich Library the right to use the images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition and for reproduction online. Artist’s recognition is provided with any use. The Friends of the East Greenwich Library reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control. Payment of the submission fee indicates acknowledgement of all terms and conditions.
