  • Science Mentor – I spent a few hours each month in a classroom with 2nd and 3rd grade students helping them to produce testable science questions, to carry out their science experiments, and to communicate their results.
Sunflower Girls State
June 2007 to present Lawrence/Topeka, KS
  • Assistant Director (2015-present) – I am responsible for coordinating the Sunflower Girls State Inaugural event and a trip for 300 delegates to the Kansas State Capitol. Additionally, I assist the Director with planning each year’s session from coordinating staff to determining the week’s schedule.
  • President of the Alumnae Association (2014-present) – I am responsible for organizing the annual Sunflower Ceremony, contacting alumnae to attend and/or participate in the ceremony, collecting annual dues, and distributing alumnae scholarships.
  • Director of the Senate (2014-2015) – I guide delegates through their election into the Senate, the writing of bills, and the debating of their bills.
  • Assistant Counselor/Counselor (2007-2013) – I was responsible for 20-30 minors, helping them establish fictional governments at the local and county levels, and encouraging their development of leadership skills, patriotism, and a sense of community.
