2. Position Announcement for The University at Albany
The University at Albany, State University of New York (UAlbany) seeks an energetic scholar with substantial international experience and expertise, who is willing to combine commitment to research and teaching in one or more of the academic disciplines represented at UAlbany with administrative responsibilities supporting the ongoing internationalization of UAlbany's mission. The appointee's administrative responsibilities will be based in the Office of International Education and will include work on two or more of the following areas: strengthening existing internationally-focused programs, developing new international initiatives, promoting study abroad, strengthening international student and scholar services, supporting international admissions, and enhancing intensive English instruction.
Requirements:
  1. PhD degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  2. Research specializations and substantial publications in one of the social sciences (including education), or in a field on the interface between the environmental, social, and health sciences, or in a field on the interface between the humanities and the social sciences, or in a globally-significant public policy field
  3. Research and teaching specializations on global/international affairs, international education and multicultural studies, major world problems, international development, or international organizations and policy issues
  4. A record of teaching, research, publication and service that merits the granting of tenure at UAlbany
  5. Demonstrated interest and experience in the field of international education
  6. Capacity to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students with a wide range of international interests, and coming from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds
  7. Demonstrated management and organizational skills, consistent with responsibilities for coordinating an overseas study or technical assistance program, supervising personnel, managing grant funds, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  8. Substantial experience of international travel in developed and developing countries, and willingness to travel internationally several times a year for short work assignments
  9. Evidence of multicultural experience and awareness, and working knowledge of at least one language other than English

4.FHI 360 Recruitment for USAID-funded Early Grade Reading Project in KENYA
FHI 360 is currently recruiting for a new early grade reading program to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.The anticipated project is a 3.5-year, basic education initiative to improve early grade reading skills in English and Kiswahili throughout the country.The project will improve reading by strengthening instruction, bolstering reading delivery systems, and fostering meaningful engagement in literacy activities by communities, the private sector, and the general Kenyan public.The project will also provide technical and policy level support to the Government of Kenya in reviewing, revising and implementing reading-related policies.
