goal: to teach ilanoters about America’s holiness through religious freedom

materials: 2 noodles, sand castle building items, colored construction paper, markers, scissors, hershey kisses

instructions:

edah is split into two groups.

start in moadon.

makom kadosh in relation to America is explained.

half of edah sent to agam, half stays in moadon.

after fifteen minutes, they switch places

Erin introduced. Erin’s name is Zerg.

beach:

one counselor explains setting: eastern europe in the 1500’s

task: building a shul (sand castle).

split up and build three separate shuls by bunk.

incentive: hershey kisses

after about fifteen minutes, one of Zerg’s minions destroys the shuls

counselor says that they do not get hersheys because the shuls were destroyed

moadon:

one counselor explains setting: in a shul in Europe in the 1800’s

task: decorating a shul for a holiday celebration

MAKE SURE THEY TAPE THE DECORATIONS UP AFTER TEN MINUTES

incentive: hershey kisses

after about fifteen minutes, one of Zerg’s minions rips down some of the decorations

counselor says that they do not get hersheys because the shul was not properly decorated

everyone goes back to the moadon

counselors stand in a line at the agam to campers do not run into the water or on the dock.

Erin comes and laughs and says they are not worthy (in an Ilanot friendly way).

Melanie rips off her sweats and has red white and blue on and says, “I can’t stand not being able to do our Jewish traditions! These evil people keep destroying our shuls and ruining our decorations! We need justice! I think America is a makom where our shuls will be safe! You guys agree with me? (YEAHHHH!) But before we go, I must pay back the oppressors, the evil Zerg!” Then Melanie chases Erin to the agam and the campers follow Melanie and Erin.

Melanie and Erin have an epic battle, ending with Erin falling in the water.
