OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The role is viewed as being key in enhancing our responsiveness to supporting the needs of staff and training requirements. The successful candidate will join a small team of dedicated hardworking and committed staff. A rotational shift system is in operation within the working week to cover our service, there is also a requirement for occasional weekend work, flexibility is required during the year
Strong inter-personal skills are required for this post as the College and Service continues to expand its quality provision and meet targets. The ability to work as part of a team and for self-motivation is essential.
ESSENTIAL PERSONAL QUALITIES OF THE POST HOLDER
This is a demanding and challenging post playing a key part in the continuing success, development and expansion of the College and Service.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic individual who is ICT and customer service focused, who is willing to understand the environment in which we operate. Grade: Grade 5, Points:14-18 - £15,882–£17,333

JOB PURPOSE
To provide effective ICT support to specified users – management, tutors and staff. To service and maintainservers, networks, workstations, laptops and other peripherals including classroom/training rooms and administration offices. Support additional CCP services at out centres and sites at John Mansfield Campus.
The focus of this position is to provide an effective ICT support service to specified users - management, tutors and staff; and to be responsible for ICT hardware and software services.
The College currently has some 350+ work stations. The current structure is for multi-server local area networks, VPN (Virtual private Networks) linking multiple sites, JANET internet connection. The software environment is MS Windows desktop operating systems ranging from Windows 7 through to Windows 2012 R2, MS desktop applications (Office etc), MS Windows 2003 servers and 2008, SQL servers,Terminal Services, MS Exchange 2013. The College has also invested in cloud technology, mobile devices and dedicated data base enrolment and finance software systems. The team support multiple photocopiers, printers, smart boards, plus IP, digital and analogue telephone systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide support to all users of ICT equipment, diagnosing problems and delivering excellent customer service.
- To ensure that all equipment is in good working order.
- Testing and setting up equipment and peripherals before the start of specified lessons.
- To replenish ink cartridges as and when necessary
- Taking regular backups of valuable data
- To keep accurate records of work undertaken
- To arrange repair of equipment, in liaison with the Facilities Manager, as necessary.
8. Have the ability to work unsupervised.
GENERAL DUTIES

- A comprehensive technical understanding of all versions ofMicrosoft Office and Windows 7 – 8 (modern versions)2007 and associated security systems
- A working technical understanding of Microsoft Server 2003 & 2008& 2012 R2,Active Directory. Have a working technical ability for software and hardware installation and configuration including laptops, and portable communication devices including Apple plus windows based clients products
- Have a working understanding of telephone networks and associated communications systems
- Have a working understanding of Photocopiers/Printers
- A working technical understanding of asset systems and their use.
SKILLS & ABILITIES / Proven skills and abilities in:
- Maintaining networks, to install hardware, hardware components and sub components and to install and configure software

QUALIFICATIONS /
- NVQ in Installing and Supporting IT Systems Level 3 or an equivalent IT technical qualification
- A good standard of post compulsory education
PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES / Proven ability to:
- Work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Undertake continuous professional development in relation to the post role
- Full driving licence and own vehicle.
