Peter Courtney Memorial Scholarship
Peter Courtney was a great advocate for the Simmental breed and our youth. He believed very passionately in the success of the youth of the AJSA; both presently and in the future. Through his involvement with the ASA Foundation, Peter’s plan was to provide financial help and opportunities to youth involved in the Simmental industry. Though, sadly, he was taken from us in 2009, his legacy will forever be remembered and honored in the Simmental breed.
To commemorate his leadership, values, and compassion The Peter Courtney Memorial Scholarship will provide the means for two young people to attend The Summit, a leadership conference for the youth of the American Junior Simmental Association. The Scholarship will cover registration costs for the conference and provide $250 to be used toward travel expenses for each individual. Application Qualifications
1. Applicant must be a member of the American Junior Simmental Association.
2. Must be between the ages of 14-21 years. The age restrictions for The Summit follow the same method as that of the AJSA Regional and National. Age is based on January 1 of current year.
3. Applicant must be able, willing, and excited to attend The Summit leadership conference in Bozeman, Montana, August 3 through 6.
4. Applications must be submitted via email to by June 1. All parts must be completed and a color photo of applicant should be submitted with application.
6. Applicants will be notified by June 5 to ensure adequate time for travel preparations. Applicants will also be recognized at the Junior National Classic banquet, attendance is not required.
