Trail Bits January 2017

“Capt’n Kirk it appears the Klingons have infiltrated the Enterprise communication systems. This is causing great confusion as to the veracity of our updates on the nearby universe and aye even onto our own internal memoranda. This may sow the seeds of doubt as to our leadership, hierarchy and the systems of our Enterprise and thus cause bitter foment amongst the various factions of our crew.Indeed some type of fakery appears to be rampant!”
“ Ahhhh Scotty, you always were a worrier, I can’t believe this action, if indeed it has happened will be of any consequence.”
“ But Capt’n Kirk!!!!”
Your Board, although entertained by far-fetched future fiction, decided we must get on to the important business at hand:
Membership-It matters, yes it does, that you give us a vote of confidence along with dollars. No need to run it through a PAC although the online option at northernlightsnordic.org under the membership tab is quite convenient!
Equipment-A bad year, yes it was.Our aging machines were breaking down far far away from the parking lot and various other mishaps resulted in lots of shop time. One 2006 VKPro was felt only good for parts and our 1995 Alpine (Bob C’s favorite ride) is having a major overhaul.Fortunately we were able to purchase last years’ nearly new VKPro at a very good price and put it to work immediately.
Sugar Hills-A new parking lot and building are on tap for next season. We are planning on a large storage/workship facility adjacent to the trail with a warming house for the public enclosed within. If you are passionate about skiing Sugar or just passionate, we have set up a separate fund for donations to help us make this a reality.More news on the final building plans to come.
Ski Swap-In December organized by Catherine was a big success as much as by spreading information to the public about skiing and trails as finding bargain skis.
Trails-As I hope you know from personal experience, all trails are in primo condition thanks to hours of work and some suffering by our intrepid volunteer groomers.BTW the Suomi Trails are now Grant in Aid and a ski pass is needed.
Wait, I hear the Captain speaking- “Happy New Year! Ski and keep smiling!”
