Pet-Oxygen Masks(1)

Increasingly, little oxygen masks for pets are becoming standard equipment for firefighters. Hoping to save cats, dogs and other pets caught in house fires, animal advocacy groups and pet-products suppliers are equipping departments all over the country with them. As a result ofincreasing use of pet oxygen masks, the expectation is that many more pets will survive house fires, along with their owners, of course.

Favorite Movies (2)

Berry Tasty Muffins

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, oatmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Mix in blueberries.
  3. In another bowl, break the egg and use a fork to beat it just a little bit. Then add the milk and vegetable oil, and mix.
  4. Add this mixture to the first mixture in the large bowl.
  5. Using a mixing spoon, mix about 25 or 30 times. Don't mix too much! Your muffin mixture should be lumpy, not smooth.
  6. Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly spray with nonstick spray. Spoon in the muffin mix. Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 of the way up.
  7. Bake for about 20 minutes.
  8. When muffins are finished baking, remove from muffin tin and cool them on a wire rack.
  9. Enjoy your berry tasty muffins!

California Wildfires (3)

In California, wildfires are especially hard to put out. This is partly because of the hot, powerful Santa Ana winds. The heat of the wind, combined with the heat of the fire, makes it difficult for firefighters to contain the wildfires.

Great Cats of Africa (4)

Lions, leopards, and cheetahs are the top hunters of the African plains. They have a lot in common, but each one is special in its own way. Lions are the biggest cats in Africa. Leopards are smaller than lions, but they are very strong and fierce. Lightest and smallest of all is the cheetah, but these traits enable it to be the fastest land mammal on earth.

AfricanRain Forest (5)

You’re in an African rain forest. Huge trees surround you. Tropical vines hang from limbs. Their thick roots twist along the ground. Their branches form a roof like canopy that nearly blocks out the sun. Parrots chatter. Monkeys and other birds call. The air is warm, damp, and heavy.

Race to the White House (6)

In January 2008, many Democratic and Republican candidates announced their bid for the presidency. Then, primary elections and party caucuses are held. Eventually, candidates from both parties debate the issues. Later, the party conventions officially announce their nominees. After several more debates, a president is elected. Inauguration is January of the following year.
