PES/ALD General Meeting 9/18/2013

Ways to be involved: Join a committee, help plan events, and participate in events

Point System: earn points by attending meetings (1 point) and events (2-4 points). These points come into account when determining scholarship winners, members who will attend the end of the semester high points dinner, and it helps in considering who will be considered to be on the E-Board for next year. Committees:

Recruitment/Fundraising:

-Next meeting is October 7th at 8 pm.

-Upcoming events are “You Got Caught Studying” on Sunday October 13th at 8 pm in Wells Library and also a booth at Wells Library on the first Tuesday of November. Sign-up sheets were available to sign up. Contact Chen at with further questions.

Social Committee:

-Upcoming event is the Color Run on Saturday October 12th. The RSVP link will be sent out in the ListServ email on Monday. Possible Spaghetti dinner on October 11th before the race. The first 25 to sign up for the run will have their entrance fee paid for. Members are encouraged to still sign up. Also, feel free to bring along friends and roommates! They will be on the PES/ALD team as well. Contact Mallory at with questions.

Community Service: Committee broken up into local community service, national community service, and an annual PES/ALD Signature Event.

-The call-out meeting will be Sunday, September 22nd at 4 pm in BU 423.

-Upcoming event is the Bloomington Orchard Work Day on Saturday October 12th from 1-4 pm. The RSVP form will be sent out in the ListServ on Monday. Contact Katie at with questions.

Tutoring:

-Next meetings are Thursday, September 26th from 6-7:30 and Sunday, September 29th from 6-7:30. If you have signed up to be a tutor or would like become one you MUST attend one of these meeting sessions! RSVP to Also, if you would like to be tutored, contact the same email address with which classes you would like to be tutored in and the committee chairs will get you in contact with the corresponding tutors.

Professional:

-Next meeting is Monday, September 30th at 7 pm and then room is TBD.

-Possible events are resume/cover letter workshops, interviewing tips, professional dress guest speakers, and how to effectively speak in public. If you have any questions or any preferences on workshops you would like to see put on, contact Megan at .

Historian:

-Upcoming project is working on the Order of the Torch which is a scrapbook that highlights the events throughout the year. There will be meetings once a month to work on the scrapbook and also members will be needed to take pictures at events and meetings and then be sent to Amber at to be included in the Order of the Torch.

Scholarship applications will be available in January and interviews will begin in March.
