3. Identify your four-letter personal preference type.

ISFJ

4. Interpret your results using the descriptions of personality types on page 57.

I am an IJ type meaning I am an introvert that takes their time when thinking out different scenarios and solutions by doing so alone in my own head.

5. Answer this question regarding your MBTI results. What was your four-letter MBTI personality type, and in what way is the description of your personality type on page 57 consistent/inconsistent with how you chose the degree you are pursuing? (1–2 paragraphs)

I am an IJ type and I think this is spot on. In terms of how it is consistent with how I chose the degree I couldn’t have said it better myself. College always scared me because I was scared of the future and what I was going to do with myself. I took my time and did a lot of reflecting and studied up on all the different jobs that I could pursue. One time I even considered working on computer science just for the fact that I would be working mostly alone and wouldn’t have to deal with people as much. When I finally made my choice I also remember shocking a few of my friends just like the description said.

I read about the IP type and I think I sort of fall under the category as well. The first description is about how they want to delay their decision about a major until they consider all the other options. In my case I feel like I did that as well, I tried to calm myself down when I finally committed to a major and told myself I could always change it if I am unhappy but I needed to make a decision to move ahead. I suppose I am scared of commitment in a career because I am scared I may have made the wrong choice.

Second, Complete the Holland Interest Environment (RIASEC)

To complete the assignment, do the following.

1. Begin by accessing the textbook and reviewing pages 59 through 63.

2. Review each “environment” description and select the one that best describes you.

a.Does the realistic environment best describe you (see page 60)?

No.

b.Does the investigative environment best describe you (see page 60)?

Yes.

c. Does the artistic environment best describe you (see page 61)?

No.

d.Does the social environment best describe you (see page 61)?

Definitely not.

e.Does the enterprising environment best describe you (see page 61)?

No, and the strange thing is that is the type of environment I work in now.

f. Does the conventional environment best describe you (see page 62)?

Possibly.

3. Identify the one environment that best describes you.

The one environment that best describes me is the investigative environment.

4. Answer this question regarding your RIASEC results. What was the environment that best describes you, and in what way were the hobbies and sample careers within the environment description consistent/inconsistent with your career interests? (1–2 paragraphs)

The investigative environment is the one that could best describe me, from being described as introverted right off the bat I knew I would connect to at least one hobby and one type of job. Solving math problems does interest me and I recently found a love for completing puzzles. As for the jobs, I had always thought about being a vet because I love animals more than I love people, which would explain me being introverted. Also, a statistician seems like something I would enjoy because statistics is my favorite subject and I would be left alone while solving them.

When looking at the conventional environment I felt like I could be described as all the synonyms that were listed there. A hobby that I didn’t think much of as a hobby but I definitely enjoy is arranging and organizing my household and just being organized all together. Before deciding what I wanted to do my mom always suggested being an accountant because I enjoy math so much. Since I live in Los Angeles theme parks are kind of my life and I am always the one who is making the plans and helping my friends find things and I’d be lying if I said I never thought about being a travel agent. I am torn now between the investigative and the conventional environment.
