1)Reviewing Personal Responses that you wrote, choose and identify onethat you would like to submit to be evaluated as the best example of your work.
Consider the following checklist for each of your responses and reflect about why you are choosing one piece over the others. Justify your choice on the reverse of this sheet.
Author’s position stated in the student’s own words.Student’s position stated and compared with the author’s view.
Specific examples from personal experience or observation to support the student’s position.
Judgement made or conclusion drawn.
Quality of writing (sentence structure, spelling, and grammar).
2)Once you have chosen your assignment, edit it and highlight items that you are changing. Editing is a very important part of the writing process! Make sure to rephrase for clarity or conciseness, to spell and grammar check, and to ensure that you have all the required elements. You are encouraged to hand in a final copy that has been word-processed.
3)Submit three of the fourresponses you have written as part of this unit (do not include “Three Passions”), including the one you edited, to reveal the reasons for your choice.
4)Your work will be evaluated according to the following levels and course expectations:
WRITING:
W1Developing and Organizing Content: generate, gather, and organize ideas and information to write for an intended purpose and audience.
W2Using Knowledge of Form and Style: draft and revise their writing, using a variety of informational, literary, and graphic forms and stylistic elements appropriate for the purpose and audience.
W3Applying Knowledge of Conventions: use editing, proofreading, and publishing skills and strategies, and knowledge of language conventions, to correct errors, refine expression, and present their work effectively.
W4Reflecting on Skills and Strategies: reflect on and identify their strengths as writers, areas for improvement, and the strategies they found most helpful at different stages in the writing process.

R1Reading for Meaning: read and demonstrate an understanding of a variety of informational, literary, and graphic texts, using a range of strategies to construct meaning.
MEDIA:
M1Understanding Media Texts: demonstrate an understanding of a variety of media texts.
