Personal Care Attendant

Imagine being part of an agency that provides Texans, regardless of ability, with the resources to live full and independent lives in their own homes and communities. Helping Restore Ability is a nonprofit home care agency in Arlington, and we send Personal Care Attendants into the homes of individuals with disabilities across the DFW Metroplex.

We specialize in ADL’s (activities of daily living, direct care). These are non-medical tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers, light housework, meal prep, and weekly shopping.

Is This for You?

·  Do you enjoy helping others with limited abilities to care for themselves?

·  Do you prefer a consistent schedule that’s the same every week?

·  Do you want clients within 15 miles of your residence?

·  Are you at least 18 years old and have reliable transportation?

If so, you might be just the person we’re looking for! Unlike other home care agencies, we match you with clients who live within 15 miles of your residence and whose schedule matches yours. We assign you to a specific client and provide a set weekly schedule. The specific days and times will depend upon the client’s needs; most need day shifts, some need mornings or evenings, some need weekends. (We do not provide overnight services.)

Current Needs

Currently, we have immediate need for caregivers in these areas: Benbrook (76126), southeast Dallas (75253), east Fort Worth (76119), far north Fort Worth (76179), and possibly Blue Mound (76131).

Job Qualifications

Education: Prefer high school diploma/GED or competency test.

References: At least two (2) verifiable references.

Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively with the PAS Program Coordinator and assigned client.

Licensure: Must pass checks of criminal background, Employment Misconduct Registry, and OIG Medicaid Exclusion List.

Experience: Prefer one year of supervised caregiver experience or providing similar services to individuals with disabilities. (Helping a friend or family member counts as experience.)

Other: Must be at least 18 years old.

Transportation: Must have reliable transportation. If assignment involves driving (e.g., shopping), must have valid and current Driver License and auto liability insurance. NOTE: Our caregivers do NOT drive the clients anywhere, although you may ride with them (if they can drive).

Pay Rate: Most assignments pay $8.30 per hour. Hoyer lift assignments pay $9.30 per hour. Most assignments are part-time, but some are full-time; weekly hours depend upon the clients’ Medicaid authorizations.

We like to promote from within, so our caregivers with Texas CNA licensure may be qualified for promotion to our PCAT (fill-in or “floater”) position in the future. The PCAT position is full-time and pays $12 per hour. This position requires a Texas CNA license, a current Driver License, flexibility/availability in your schedule, and a lot of driving. It is preferred that the PCAT would have a spotless background check, as well. Currently, we have no openings for the PCAT position.
