Job purpose
Job Purpose:
The delivery of high quality library services, primarily working with the pre-sessional cohort at Avenue and Richard Taunton’s College. The post will provide help and information services to staff and students and assist with the organisation and delivery of resources and equipment.
Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities / % Time /
1. / Handle a range of questions and transactions through face-to-face, telephone, and virtual enquiry services providing guidance and support to users and using judgement in referring on as necessary.

2. / Provide administrative support relevant to the team including loan services, library access, feedback, room bookings and equipment loan. Plan and prioritise own workload employing relevant systems and processes as necessary. / 20 %
3. / Maintain the Course collection and language learning resources: ensuring equipment and learning environment is in good order in the Library, preparing materials for teaching, examination and self-access use, and assist in the digitization of course collection resources to enable electronic access. To provide support and advice on use of audio-visual equipment and access to language learning software. / 20%
4. / Contribute to the work of the library through the development and improvement of services and by participating in team and service meetings. / 5 %
5. / Undertake development and training relevant to the role and provide guidance and support to colleagues. / 5 %
6. / Maintain a good knowledge of relevant policies and procedures, ensuring they are applied consistently in line with library and university policy and external legislation. / 5 %

· Professional and service relationships with staff, undergraduates and postgraduates, and external users of the Library Service.
· Links with colleagues across the Library to ensure appropriate and integrated user facing support and services.
· Links with other service providers, particularly those in Student Services, iSolutions and Faculties, to achieve an integrated service for users.

The post holder is expected to work flexibly including provision of cover at weekend and evenings and at other library sites by arrangement.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Criteria / Essential / Desirable / How to be assessedQualifications, knowledge and experience / NVQ2, GCSE, City and Guilds or equivalent.
Experience in a customer facing role.
Recent experience of using standard office software for administrative tasks.
An awareness of customer service practise and enquiry handling.
Experience of using online information retrieval systems and databases. / Experience of working in a library or higher education organisation.
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of university libraries.
