2. Job Summary
The Shop Manager will provide a link between the Hospice Shop and Ashgate Hospice and will be responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, motivation and support of staff members and volunteers working in the shop. The post holder will also be responsible for promoting the shop and ensuring set sales targets are met by maximising income potential.
The Shop Manager will work alongside the Coffee Shop Manager, located onsite.

Essential:
Previous experience within a customer focussed retail or service sector is essential.
Experience of working at a supervisory or managerial level.

Experience of working with volunteers.

Key Result Areas
1.  Manage and motivate a team of staff members and volunteers to increase sales whilst ensuring adherence to Hospice shops policies regarding standards of merchandise and pricing.
2.  Regularly update the team on business performance, key Hospice messages and fundraising events.
3.  Apply commercial judgement to managing sales/space analysis, visual proposition.
4.  Analyse sales figures and predict future sales forecasts. Communicate and brief store teams on daily/weekly forecast.
5.  To supervise and take part in the day- to-day activities of the shop, i.e., sorting, steaming, pricing, stock rotation, customer liaison, using the till, etc
6.  Promote the work of Ashgate Hospice Peak Village, the local community and local schools and social groups.
7.  Responsible for the recording, safeguarding and banking of cash receipts.
8.  To arrange staff/volunteer rotas, recruiting for volunteers through local community channels. Training of volunteers and staff members.
9.  To be responsible for security and cleanliness at the shop.
10.  To ensure that stock is displayed to its full potential both on the shop floor and in the shop windows.
11.  To report building and equipment faults.
12.  To arrange for the regular disposal of waste.
13.  To attend regular meetings with other Hospice Shop Managers at Ashgate Hospice, updating the team on topics discussed.
14.  Manage volunteers and staff members including maintaining, motivating and supporting them. To resolve any problems or queries they may have.
15.  Conduct staff appraisals and one to one meetings with team members.
16.  To be responsible to the Area Retail Manager for Health and Safety matters.
17.  To observe rules of confidentiality at all times.

Health and Safety at Work
