Post: / Curriculum Support Assistant
Responsible to: / Science and Maths/Computing Team Leaders
Salary: / £16,682 to £17,459 pro rata for term time working
(Scale 2 Points 14 – 16)
37 hours per week, term time 40 weeks per annum
Conditions of Service: / Truro and Penwith College Conditions of Service.
Main Purpose of Job: / To provide a professional, supportive service to Programme Team Leaders in Science, Maths and Computing. There will be significant administration and data entry duties.
Specific duties: / Work with the Science Learning Partnerships/Maths Hub in order to plan, promote, organise and deliver events and meetings.
Maintain data on the centralised STEM UK software and online support.
Maintain website and Social Media accounts.
Contribute to the Maths Hub community via the NCET website.
Produce productivity reports and newsletters.
Communicate with Schools and teachers across Cornwall and Devon to promote Science Learning Partnership activity and Maths Hub.
Work with the Institute of Physics Lead School coordinator to plan and organise Institute of Physics events in Cornwall.
Attend the Maths Hubs Forum (once a year).
To perform general secretarial duties such as word processing, minute taking, photocopying and filing, together with various other duties associated with the areas.
To respond flexibly to the varied requirements which will inevitably emerge in the process of developing the scope of the College.

The postholder will also be required to undertake such other tasks as the Principal from time to time may determine.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

CURRICULUM SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Ideally, the person appointed will have the following skills and experience:

·  Excellent organisational skills in order to co-ordinate marketing and partnership activities

·  The ability to liaise successfully with colleagues in different programme areas and external partners

·  IT skills in areas such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases and the internet

·  Knowledge of effective social and digital media and use

·  Strong inter-personal skills to help you relate to academic staff, teachers and colleagues in other areas of education administration

·  Experience of working in the education sector

·  A willingness and flexibility to learn and then operate new procedures effectively

·  Ability to work on your own initiative
