Person Specification IMHA Manager
- Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage funds and contracts while able to support your own casework.
- An ability to provide visible and supportive leadership and to foster a positive work environment through empowering, enabling, motivating and developing others.
- Ability to provide high quality person centred Independent Mental Health Advocacy, including liaison and negotiating with or on behalf of clients to third parties and representing clients’ views in a non-confrontational manner.
- Ability to develop quality standards,monitor the quality of service delivery against agreed targets andperform case audits.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, associated mental health legislation and the criminal justice system and ability to apply these appropriately.
- Good oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
- Knowledgeable about recruitment, staff training and staff motivation
- Ability to manage a team, including providing supervisions, appraisals and managingtraining and development.
- Ability to manage day-to-day operations and develop and implement effective and efficient systems
- Ability to follow Mind in Salford’s policies and procedures, assist in the development of these and ensure that your team adheres to them
- Knowledge of mental health services and the ability to advocate on any issue a client may face, including understanding the specific challenges faced bypeople detained in secure mental health services
- Ability to liaise and negotiate with or on behalf of clients to third parties and representing clients’ views in a non-confrontational manner.
- Able to engage with vulnerable adults and show respect and understanding, including ability to communicate with people who may be experiencing varying degrees of emotional or mental distress.
- Able to prioritise and organise own caseload and maintain up to date client records and work records including monitoring information.
- Able to use Microsoft Office and custom database packages.
- Ability to contribute to organisational & strategic development, working co-operatively and supportively with colleagues to achieve shared outcomes.
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in client empowerment and participation.
- Willingness to constructively challenge the work of self and others to continually improve own and team performance.
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality and data protection

Qualifications & Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience as an advocate of which 2 years needs to be in an IMHA setting – essential
- Management experience – essential
- Relevant qualifications, particularly the IMHA qualification, would be an advantage–desirable

- Clean driving licence and ability to travel to various sites in the local area. - essential
- Undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal record check. - essential
