Person Specification: Class Teacher (MPS/UPS)

Essential / DesirableQualifications /
- Qualified teacher status
- Strong qualifications in English and Maths at GCSE (or equivalent), A level plus a good honours degree
- Further qualifications and/or studies relevant to the primary age range
- Subject specific qualifications e.g Royal School of Music/Sports qualifications
Experience /
- Experience of teaching across a variety of age ranges within the Primary Phase
- Evidence of consistently Good+ or Outstanding lesson observations
- The motivation and subject knowledge to support/lead the development of a curriculum area within the whole school
Knowledge and understanding /
- A knowledge and application of highly effective teaching and learning styles
- Understanding and application of effective monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupil progress
- Thorough understanding of different groups and how to plan for their particular needs (e.g SEN, Equal Opportunities, boys/girls, Gifted and Talented, EAL, Pupil Premium)
- Understanding of 2014 National Curriculum
- Health and Safety and Child Protection strategies and procedures
- Recent Child Protection training.
- Sound understanding and experience of teaching phonics is desirable

- Proven excellent classroom management skills, including positive behaviour management
- Demonstrates impact of high quality teaching and learning in raising standards
- A commitment and proven ability to target children effectively, across the ability range, ensuring they achieve their potential
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly with children, colleagues, parents, governors and the wider community
- Sound ICT skills with ability to deliver lessons using ICT throughout the curriculum
- Professional outlook and commitment to the school
- Ability to fully support and promote the school’s aims and ethos, and to implement school policies
- A proven track record in raising standards with evidence of pupil progress that exceeds expectations is highly desirable
