Essential / Desirable
Qualifications /
  • Qualified teacher status
  • Strong qualifications in English and Maths at GCSE (or equivalent), A level plus a good honours degree
/
  • Further qualifications and/or studies relevant to the primary age range
  • Subject specific qualifications e.g Royal School of Music/Sports qualifications

Experience /
  • Experience of teaching across a variety of age ranges within the Primary Phase
  • Evidence of consistently Good+ or Outstanding lesson observations

  • The motivation and subject knowledge to support/lead the development of a curriculum area within the whole school
NB NQTs are not expected to lead an area of the curriculum during their first year.
Knowledge and understanding /
  • A knowledge and application of highly effective teaching and learning styles
  • Understanding and application of effective monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupil progress
  • Thorough understanding of different groups and how to plan for their particular needs (e.g SEN, Equal Opportunities, boys/girls, Gifted and Talented, EAL, Pupil Premium)
  • Understanding of 2014 National Curriculum
  • Health and Safety and Child Protection strategies and procedures

  • Recent Child Protection training.
  • Sound understanding and experience of teaching phonics is desirable
