Perry Wing Band Biography, August, 2007
The Perry Wing Band takes you straight tothe steps of the music capital of the world, Austin, Texas. The Perry Wing Band carries with them aregional Texas flavor that conjures up images ofhonky-tonk bars as well as the blues of the broken hearted. Their focus is to write and play songs withemphasis on their Texas blues, country and rock,but still show their Texas roots songwriting side of them.
Perry Wing has been playing guitars andwriting songs for the past 18 years in Austin. One of the bands he formed, Wingspann, played in the clubs on 6thStreet and toured Canada in the early90's. He has toured the last 5 years in Belgium andThe Netherlands promoting the band’s three CD’s: Walkin’ On Backstreets, Austin Bound and Far From Home.
Steve Thompson has been playing guitar on theAustin scene for the past 19 years. Some of the many bands Steve has played lead guitar likeSkin Deep and The Black Floyd Band were one of10 winners of a nation wide contest for new bands.Steve has also done studio work playing guitar for many studio and band projects. His diversity ranges from
country, rock, to the blues.
Keith Morgan has been playing bass guitar on the Austin scene for the past 13 years. He has played bass guitar and guitar in several bands studio projects at 5th Street Studio’s and has playedalmost every kind of genre of music.
Jason Myers has been playing keyboards for the past 5 years in Austin. His instrument of choice is the piano and trumpet which he studied at AngeloState University. Jason has played keyboards and drums in the Mighty Carter Band, Jumpsuit Booty and The Helpers. He has also done projects for television and film scores.
Dave Woodring has been playing drums and percussion for 14 years. He has been in the Austin music scene for the past 6 years as a studio drummer and manager for 5th Street Studios and has done several studio projects for other bands in Austin.
The Perry Wing Band’s new CD “Weather The Storm“features fresh new tunes from this seasonedTexas band. The Perry Wing Band toured the Netherlands and Belgium in January of 2006 promoting their last CD. “Far From Home”. They will be touring again in the fall of 2007 in Europe to promote their new CD“Weather The Storm”.
