Assistant Director to Okemos Summer Childcare Program
June – August 2005
- In charge of 4th and 5th grade room.
- Ran 2 – 3 “clubs a day for students 4th-8th grade in differing topics such as: multiple sciences, kickball, dance, art, physical education.
- Once a week, taught a 2-hour session to Kindergarteners to 8th graders based on lesson plans I developed. These varied in topic much like the daily “clubs.”
- Supervised field trips, led group discussions, and handled disciplinary issues
- Communicated with parents and administrators on problems and progress of students.
- Corresponded with Community Education office.
- Created activities and games such as jeopardy, scavenger hunts, create a song, matching people to interesting facts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- CPR and First Aide certified.
- Literate in ASL.
- Certified by Sea World San AntonioTexas, in the Zoological Careers Exploration Camp (Aug. 2003). I learned how to take care of the animals on a daily basis including, all the work that goes on behind the scenes. I also was taught ways to get children to be excited about science by showing them enthusiasm and doing hands-on activities. (Attended Sea World Careers Camp in Aug. 1998)
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND PERSONAL INTEREST
- Performed in Polish dace group for twenty years; currently a member of semi-professional group, Wawel, with local, national, and international performances.
