Perkins Center 1 of 22 Local Organizations Sharing $1 MILLION FROM PNC ARTS ALIVE

Moorestown & Collingswood, May 30, 2015: For the seventh straight year, PNC will support large and small arts groups in the Philadelphia-Southern New Jersey region through the PNC Arts Alive initiative. The grants cover a wide range of disciplines, audiences and participatory experiences. Since its introduction, PNC Arts Alive has provided a total of $7 million to support more than 160 arts programs and 80 organizations to increase access to the arts and culture in Philadelphia-Southern New Jersey. This award marks Perkins Center’s 4th PNC Arts Alive award in support of Social Artworking, a series of programs designed to eliminate perceived and actual barriers to the arts in Southern New Jersey.

“Through PNC Arts Alive, we continue to help invigorate local arts organizations while bringing new and exciting programs to our community,” said Paula Fryland, PNC regional president for Philadelphia-Southern New Jersey. “The creativity and collaboration demonstrated by the local arts community is evident in the programs that will be introduced, while enabling new visitors and residents alike to experience a diverse range of exhibits and performances.”

Perkins Center’s Social Artworkingis one of four South Jersey based PNC Arts Alive programs taking place starting in June. Funding of $35,000 from PNC Arts Alive is supporting a full year of programming focused on eliminating barriers to the arts. Social Artworking will target and attract youth and family audiences living in and around Collingswood, Camden and Moorestown, NJ. Continuous free and low-cost programs presented in outdoor, public, and welcoming settings, will build, diversify and deepen audience participation in the arts. Except for scholarships, every part of Social Artworking has been designed as free experiences taking place in outdoor public settings as a way to attract the diverse multi-generational audience already in the spaces. These locations include: the Perkins Arboretum in Moorestown, the Collingswood Farmer’s Market and the Eco Park at Perkins Center, Collingswood.

The 2015-2016 Social Artworking Program will include the following programs and services:
