Please note: Fire Regulations stipulate a maximum of 100 people on or back stage at any one time. This includes any staff or chaperones. If your show has more than this number of people and you are using other rooms to change in, when these people come up on to the stage that number of people need to leave the back stage area.

SMOKING

Smoking is banned in all public places. Anyone caught smoking in the building will have to pay not only the personal fine but also the company fine at the current rate.

FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT

Two members of crew are required on stage for every performance. If you are using live flame or pyrotechnics an additional member of crew is required whose only job will be to act as a fire marshal.

SAFETY CURTAIN

The safety curtain must be lowered at some point during the show in the presence of the public. This is a legal requirement. An iron waiver can be obtained but we need at least 4 weeks notice. Once the iron has been raised we need to have a member of staff on call until it is dropped at the end of the day. This cost will be passed on to you.

TRANSPORT

The loading dock is situated at the rear of the theatre in White Rock Road. Please note there is only room for one 40ft truck to unload at any time. Once unloaded the truck can be left parked in the loading bay but we have to email the registration to parking control. We can also park vans and minibuses. Please note that we cannot park cars in the loading bay area you must pay and display.

SLEEPER COACHES

These can be parked at the rear of the theatre in White Rock Road. They need to be parked up by the stage door not in the parking bay again we need the registration to send to parking control. About 15ft down the hill from the stage door there is a 16amp CEE form power socket for use on the coaches please inform us if you would like to use this as it need to be turned on from inside the building, this can be done the night before if you are travelling over night.

GET IN / OUT

The dock door is at the rear of the theatre in White Rock Road.

The amount of staff we call is based on your requirements from your tech rider, therefore please ensure that this is correct, as the same number is used for both the in / out. Please note that we are a BECTU / TMA venue. For more information on staffing and recharges please contact the stage manager.

GET OUTS

Please note we charge a get out rate when the lift is used, if you supply your own sound equipment or if you fly anything in the venue. This is due to health and safety and to ensure that we follow the BECTU / TMA agreement.

DEFINITION

A get out shall mean and include where required by the management the dismantling and removal by the theatres stage and electrical staff (and wardrobe staff if required) from the theatre and the loading on to vehicles after the company’s final performance of it scenery, properties, costumes, effects and electrical equipment at any time and on any day belonging to:

A visiting management or

A resident management for the purpose of playing another venue.

EQUIPMENT

All electrical equipment that is brought into this venue must meet with current EEC safety standards and have current PAT test certificate. This applies to both personal and professional equipment. The chief electrician can withdraw any equipment that does not conform. Alternatively we can do a PAT test for you and this will be recharged on the settlement.

SAFETY

Steel toecap boots must be worn on stage at all times during the get in / out. When working in the grid, lighting bridge, and roof void or at the bottom of the scope a hard hat must be worn. Due to hygiene reasons we do ask that you provide your own. The stage manager is responsible for the safe and satisfactory operation of all stage procedures. The venue reserves the right to put in place any staff or systems to ensure safe working practise are maintained. The cast of this will be recharged to you.

SUSPENSION OR LIFTING EQUIPMENT

All equipment must be accompanied by a warranty or annual inspection certificate and must show working loads. Due to our health and safety policy we regret that any equipment that comes into the venue that does not show safe working loads or have certificate cannot be used. The stage manager will withdraw any equipment that does not conform to LOLER regulations and you will be recharged on your contra for any use of the White Rock Theatres suspension and lifting equipment.

ORCHESTRA PIT

Please note we do not have an orchestra pit but we can remove seats to make room for an orchestra. Please note that the cost of removal and replacement will be charged back to you.

COLOUR CALL

Our lighting rig is a four colour wash of blue / red / amber / green. If you would like different colours to this you should supply your own gel as we only have a limited stock. Any gel cut for your show will be recharged back to you.

PRE-RIG

Due to our busy programme it is not always possible to pre-rig. Should a pre-rig be desired, then please contact the stage manager as early as possible. Please note that additional charges apply for pre-rigs and this will be recharged on the settlement.

STAGE SETS, PROPS AND DRAPES

All items of set, props or any fabric on your set must be fireproofed. Please note if any items are not fireproof you will not be able to use them. Our stage manager will carry out a fire test the day the set arrives at the venue.

CATERING

Please note we do not have any self catering facilities within the building, this is due to the fact that we don’t have a dedicated kitchen and we are not licensed to have bottle gas in the building. We highly recommend our in house cafe which is currently open two and a half hours before every performance. Any specific requirements can also be catered for in advance, please contact our Catering Manager Peter McLoughlin on extension 210.

WHEEL CHAIRS USERS

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate Wheelchair usersbackstage at the theatre. At present the changes needed are not deemed to bereasonable practical (by the DDA and H&S authority) given the layout of the stage and surrounding facilities. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

CHILDREN IN ENTERTAINMENT

If you have children in your show you are responsible to ensure that the children are licensed to perform. The law applies to all children of compulsory school age. A child must be licensed if he / she perform for more than THREE days in any SIX month period.
