IX. STATEMENT OF NEED
In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) SEC. 4205(b)(1)(A), program activities must be based on an assessment of objective data regarding the need for before and after school (or summer recess) programs and activities in the schools and communities. A needs assessment must be completed prior to writing the grant application in order to identify service gaps, coordination between existing programs and services, and additional background data and related information about the students, families, and community that justifies the selection of this project. Use the table and questions below to describe the results of the needs assessment. Be specific.
