JOB SUMMARY:

The Property Maintenance Technician(PMT) reports to the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for repairs and maintenance throughout the residential rental portfolio. The PMT may also be asked to assist with repairs and maintenance in the company’s commercial property division and strata residential division. The position may involve working with outside trades and service providers to maintain the properties to the highestof standards. The PMT ensures all work is guided by the Porte Promises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Experience in residential maintenance
  • Drywall skills for repairs of holes and other minor wall damage
  • Plumbing skills - sink and faucet installation / changing out faucet cartridges and washers, shower diverters, install dishwashers, install toilets, replace tank seals,fill valves, flapper valves in existing toilets
  • Assess leaks to determine repairs required
  • Carpentry skills - hanging doors, installing cabinets, installing baseboard ,installing automatic door closers, installing hardware (towel bars, toilet paper holders, door hardware,medicine/ mirror cabinets), installing closet shelving, minor framing repairs, fencing, concrete repairs
  • Minor electrical (installing light fixtures, installing switches and receptacles)
  • Repairs of windows and patio doors (wheels, handles, adjustments)
  • Repair of tile and grout
  • Good silicone abilities for tub surrounds
  • Basic administrative duties including time tracking and job summaries
  • Attends staff meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required training, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

a)Completion of Grade 12

b)Strong customer service orientation

c)Good communication skills and the ability to work well with tenants, suppliers, consultants and industry players

d)Able to work independently and as part of a team

e)Has a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license

f)Willing to travel in the greater Vancouver areaespecially to White Rock where half of the buildings are located

g)Has the appropriate work tools

WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working conditions:

a)Rotating between the residential properties spread out around the lower mainland on a daily or weekly basis. More information on our properties can be found at

b)Occasional work outside normal office hours, including weekends on call
