People Working Cooperatively Receives $6,250 Grant from

The UPS Foundation

CINCINNATI – People Working Cooperatively (PWC), a local nonprofit that provides critical home repair, weatherization, modification and maintenance services to help residents stay safely in their homes, received a $6,250 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS). The grant will be used to provide home modifications to local veterans.

The grant was donated as part of PWC’s Ramp It Up for Veterans initiative, which aimed to provide critical home modifications to veterans who were on PWC’s modifications wait list. Through the veterans initiative, PWC was able to help almost 60 veterans with critical work.

“When we launched Ramp It Up for Veterans, we aimed to call out our veterans and honor them in a special way,” said PWC President Jock Pitts. “Because of generous donations, we’ve been able to do great work for those veterans in need in our local community.”

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., The UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, The UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: nonprofit effectiveness, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.

In 2011, The UPS Foundation distributed more than $45.3 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as PWC’s Ramp It Up for Veterans and provide support for building stronger communities.

“The UPS Foundation is committed to funding impactful programs that make a meaningful difference in our communities – so we are proud to support PWC’s efforts to provide critical home modifications to veterans,” said Ken Sternad, president of The UPS Foundation.
