Mrs. Isengard

Anatomy and Physiology –

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Anatomy class! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and introduce you to the course. I am very excited to be your Anatomy teacher this year. I am looking forward to a positive and successful school year.

I would take this opportunity to briefly discuss the nature and design of this course. Anatomy and Physiology as a subject is very challenging even for many medical students. As this elective course is usually taken in the junior or senior year one of my goals is to help students prepare for academic life after high school. Therefore, you can expect this course to be rigorous.

I do believe that all students can succeed in anatomy; however it will require that the students take it upon themselves to put forth the necessary effort. This effort will include completion of reading assignments, taking notes both from the reading and class presentations, frequent studying of vocabulary terms even if no homework has been assigned, and seeking extra help if necessary. I am more than happy to meet with students before school around 7:45, after school, and during lunches. I will also write late passes for after school activities such as band or sports.

On the following pages you will find information about the course such as required materials, grading policies, classroom rules, and classroom procedures. Please read the following pages and fill out the green parent information sheet as well as the school’s insurance waiver. All forms and supplies are due a week after the first day of school.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. You may also check my website for updates, an outline of weekly lesson plans, and links to helpful online resources. My contact information is included in the syllabus and at the bottom of this letter. Again I am excited about this school year and look forward to helping you reach your goal of success in Anatomy.

  • We will be working on a year long review notebook in a spiral or composition book.

Homework and Assginments

  • Homework will be assigned several times per week.
  • Assignments are due at the bell and will be turned into the class tray.

Bell to Bell

  • Class begins when the bell rings and is dismissed by the teacher. Students must remain in their seats until dismissed.
  • Upon entering the room, check the agenda board, turn in assignments, sit quietly in your assigned seat and begin the warm up. This should take about 2-3 minutes and should be written in the warm up section of your notebook.
  • 2 Minute rule - You will have the last two minutes of class to complete your closing question. At this time you may pack up your belongings or ask me questions directly. Packing up prior to this 2 minutes will result in a lunch detention.
