A Word from the Chairman:

The 2017 edition of PEI’s Technical Forum is shaping up to be another great event for the porcelain enameling industry. Here is your chance to learn what is new in the world of porcelain enameling and pick up some ideas that will have a positive impact for you back in your plants and laboratories. We’ll have a full schedule of information-packed technical papers and practical shop-based workshops. This event is a must for everyone involved in porcelain enamel shop or laboratory operations as well as for those providing materials, equipment, chemicals and services to the industry.

Thanks to the following Program Committee members, Charles Baldwin, Jason Butz, Peter Dority, Holger Evele, Phil Flasher, Cullen Hackler, Mike Horton, David Larimer, Frank Mohar, Glenn Pfendt, Dave Thomas, Theo Tomczak, Peter Vodak, Jack Waggener and Ted Wolowicz, who have spent several months finalizing this program. It includes over 25 presentations on what is new in the world of porcelain enameling.

Our 32nd Back-to-Basics Workshop gets us off to a great start on Tuesday, May 16 and is followed by the 26th Suppliers’ Mart that evening. The traditional presentation of lectures and papers happens on Wednesday and Thursday during our 79th Technical Forum. We are delighted to have Mr. Robert Kotrick (Rockwood Lithium) presenting the A I Andrews Memorial Lecture.

On Thursday afternoon we will have a tour at the Toyota Automotive Manufacturing plant in Georgetown, KY. The bus will depart from the hotel at 12:00 noon and return to the hotel around 5:00 PM.

Please send your registration form to PEI today and take advantage of the “early registration” discount. And, separately, be sure to make your hotel reservations directly with the Marriott Louisville Downtown Hotel (1-800-266-9432). The PEI room rate is $165 plus taxes. You can also book your room online with the link from the PEI website,

On behalf of the entire Tech Forum Program committee, I look forward to seeing you in Louisville in May,
