First-Year Seminar Mentor for Academics and Writing Evaluation Form

Thank you for all your hard work this year! It is because of your dedication that Middlebury is able to foster this program. Please take a few minutes to give us your insight into your experience as a First-Year Seminar Mentor. Any suggestions you have will enhance the quality and integrity of the program for both future Mentors and for the student body. Thank you, Mary Ellen and Yonna.

Tutor Training Sessions:

  1. Did you like the time, place, and day the training sessions and makeup sessions met?

Do you have suggestions for methods that would eliminate the need for makeup sessions?

  1. Did you benefit from the Mentor Sessions?
  2. Was there anything not offered that you would have particularly like to have learned, practiced, or discussed?
  3. Did you feel the sessions adequately prepared you for what you encountered when tutoring a student in writing? In time management, academic skills, advising, and Banner Web training?
  4. Based on your experience, do you feel that there are any topics the training sessions should share or cover that would have helped your experience?
  5. Was there anything you wished you would have learned or have been prepared for prior to meeting with students?
  6. Have you attended optional sessions such as Ref-Works or CTLR events? If so, have they been helpful?
  7. What topics would you like to see in additional optional sessions?
  8. What suggestions do you have for making the training in writing more effective?

Working with your FYSE

  5. Did you ever use the CTLR space to tutor? If not, which space do you prefer?

Communication and Payment

  • Did you ever access information from or use materials on our Blog or the CTLR websites? Have you ever used the Writing College Papers Blog? Are you part of the PWT/FYSM group on facebook? Do you have suggestions for making these online resources more effective or useful?
  • Do you have any suggestions for the way in which Banner and log sheets are distributed and collected? Did you use the electronic log sheet?
  • Do you feel you personally have benefited from being a part of the Peer Writing Tutor program? If so, how?
