Update – January 2013 - June 2013
Recommendation
It is recommended that the board meeting dates from January to June 2013be approved.
Background
On December 11, 2012, the Board approved changes to its practice of scheduling meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month in order to accommodate holy days that are identified as significant in the Board’s Holy Days and Holidays Calendar, effective January 1, 2013.
It has come to the attention of the administration that these changes create conflicts to trustees’ previous commitments during the 2012-2013 school year because the changes came into effect midyear. The Board’s practice with proposed changes in midyear is to consider a transitional period where possible.
As such, it is recommended that the changes to scheduling of board meetings to accommodate significant holy days take effect beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.
