MINUTES

MEMBERS PRESENT:

Also present was Mr. Charles Henderson, Airport Director and Airport Staff Members; Connie Anderson, John Ferguson and Marshell Johnson.

John Russell with the Morning News was present.

Mr. Phil Brown with Avcon Airport Engineering Firm and Ken Hawk were in attendance.

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Bonnoitt in the Airport Conference Room, 2100 Terminal Drive, Florence, SC. The media was notified in accordance with 30-4-80.

The Invocation was given by Rev. Edwards.

On a motion by Mr. Powell and second by Mr. Kinard, the minutes of the September 17, 2014 meeting were approved as previously emailed.

Chairman Bonnoittwelcomed the guests to the Authority meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCE COMMITTEE REPORT: Mr. Powell

Mr. Powell commented the Airport’s finances are good again this month.

For the month, Airport Revenue was $140,837.05. Airport Expenses were $135,137.43. FBO Revenue for the month was $111,840.27. FBO Expenses were $110,643.79.

AIR SERVICE COMMITTEE REPORT: Mr. Kinard

Mr. Kinard reported September ’14 over last year, Enplanements are up by 542, an 11% increase. Year to date, Enplanements are down 1%.

Mr. Kinard reported September’s Load Factor rate is at 81% and the flight cancellation rate is 4%.

PROPERTIES AND PROJECTS COMMITTEE REPORT: Mr. Nettles

Mr. Henderson reported in Mr. Nettles’ absence.

Mr. Henderson reported the restroom renovation project is underway. He stated the portable restrooms are currently being setup on the east entrance near the rental return lot. The Pre-construction meeting will be next week and then the construction will begin.

FBO COMMITTEE REPORTS: Mr. Edwards

Mr. Edwards referred his report to Mr. Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson referred the Authority to the Fuel and Maintenance Sales Charts in their notebooks.

Mr. Ferguson reported September’s fuel numbers were better than August. He stated we are beginning to see an increase in fuel sales and commented he expects October’s numbers will be even better. He stated the FBO has sold a total of about 25,000 gallons of fuel. He stated Avgas fuel sales were up in September over August. He reported that maintenance sales were down in Septemberdue to several airplanes that will be billed out in October when they are completed.

Mr. Ferguson report that today is our first day as an Avfuel dealer. He stated Avfuel’s cost for gas is less than Shell’s and that he expect to see a reduction in fuel prices when we purchase our first load of fuel from Avfuel. He commented he is very excited about Avfuel being here.

He stated Avfuel has a point of sale system that will give us more reporting capability. He stated US Airways will start using the Avfuel contract program, which will allow the Airport to put US Airways sales into the new system and the Airport get paid within 48 hours rather than at the end of the month.

Finally, Mr. Finally reminded the Authority that the Collins Foundation “Wings of Freedom” Tour WWII Aircraft will be here on Monday. He stated we have advertised the event in the Morning News and has had some free radio airtime promoting the event. He stated he is really excited about the event.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Mr. Henderson

Mr. Henderson reminded the Authority that the Airport Emergency exercise is scheduled to begin at 9:00 in the morning. He also asked the Authority if there were any questions or comments from his Director’s Report from last week.

OLD BUSINESS:

None.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Rogers asked if the Authority was still looking for someone who will help us with the issue of the numberof flight cancellations.

Mr. Henderson stated he spoke with the president of US Airways and expressed our concern about cancellations. He stated US Airways’ president pledged to do whatever he can to help with this issue. Mr. Henderson stated he will continue to maintain communication with US Airways’ Station Manager and will look for outside help for Air Service development.

There being no further business, the Pee Dee Regional Airport Authority adjourned at 5:49 PM.

Mr. Will Brezeale, member of the community addressed the Airport Authority to express his concerns and opinions of the Authority’s vision for the Airport’s future, getting a second airline and flight training service at the Airport. He shared with the Authority newspaper articles on how other airports are planning to use federal money to recruit airlines and urged the Authority to look into doing the same.
