Abstract

This paper reviews the installation and start up of 75 retrofit capillary injection safety systems developed and deployed during Foam Assisted Lift campaign in the largest Indonesian offshore gas fields,

The retrofit completion is a unique technology engineered and developed in collaboration with the customer to address the decease of production due to liquid loading. The system maintains safety valve integrity and operability with the existing control line and enables the injection of the foaming agent below the WR-SCSSV into live gas wells up to 4,500m deep. The rigless deployment, is achieved in combination with braided line unit and capillary unit.

A review of the system, installation process and startup will be covered and production enhancement to date shared to support the findings.

This recompletion process is most relevant to brownfield gas wells, or marginal fields where liquid loading is restricting production and safety valves are mandated by regulations or company policy. It can be applied both on and offshore and ether single installations or in field wide applications.

In addition this system is equally applicable to other chemical injection applications such as dissolving asphaltines, inhibiting corrosion & scale, salt disbursement and H2S CO2 treatment

To date 75 wells have been recompleted, a number of these have surface chemical and pump infrastructure connected and operational. Of the wells currently injecting, production uplift is 200% greater than expected and the campaign is on target to significantly exceed the predicted 0.5mmscf production uplift per well.

Conclusions will show the viability and scalability of this method of surfactant injection for deliquification applied over whole fields to enhance production, improve Net Present value and extend brownfield gas field life.

The paper is significant due to increasing demand for deliquification in brownfield and marginal environments. The production enhancement data presented will detail unbiased and quantifiable increases in production over a wide number of wells, in different fields and operating circumstances (swamp and offshore).

The system is unique because it provides a means of retrofitting chemical injection without compromising the functionality of master valves or SCSSV. This application also integrates a number of completion technologies; slickline, capillary, flow control, SCSSV and artificial lift are all required for installations, without the need for rig intervention.
