1.  Approval of Minutes from November Meeting

A vote was taken and the minutes from the November meeting were approved with no changes.

2.  Treasurer’s Report

Susan reviewed the November and December Treasurer’s report. The Box Tops for Education program has raised $1000 so far this year. Family Dinner nights are also doing very well. We are beginning to pay deposits on Field Trips.

3.  Questions for the Principal

Mr. Kern was asked about the issues with afternoon pick-up and the many cars parking in the fire lanes, driving down the wrong side of the driveway, and blocking crosswalks. He will look into possible solutions.

We discussed the limit for the Maple Point cafeteria for Pizza Bingo. There is a limit of 400 tickets.

Mr. Kern was also asked about the possibility of students purchasing two entrees at lunch. He confirmed with the cafeteria staff that a student may buy two portions of the entrée and will only be charged for the extra food, not an entire second lunch.

4.  Race for Education/ Raymour and Flanigan

The Race for Education run will be held May 5th. The raffle baskets will be on display on May 4th during the Art Show. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase that night as well as the next day during the race. A pep rally will be held January 27th, with our mascot Pearl, and the labels will go home with students that day. Mr. Kern will talk to the teachers to see if they will need PTO help in the classrooms to complete the Race mailers.

The Raymour and Flanigan fundraiser will be held on March 18th. We will sell raffle tickets for items (not yet determined) and will sell pretzels.

5.  Pizza Bingo/ NAC Night

Stephanie Gordon held a pizza bingo committee meeting on Jan 11th and everything is progressing well. We will not be selling pretzels or ice cream, but will have candy available for purchase. Tickets for the event will be $8 and will be sold in school. We will also have a variety of raffle baskets.

NAC Night will be Feb 24th. It is limited to 75 parent/child couples and tickets will cost $25. Information will be sent home ahead of time and we will use a Sign-up Genius to complete the sign-ups.

6.  Book Fair/ Science Fair

The Book Fair will occur Feb 22nd- 28th (Wed, Thurs, Fri, Mon, Tues). The books are arriving Feb 16th and we will need a few volunteers to set up on the 17th. The Science Fair will be held on Thurs Feb 23rd and we will have the Book Fair open at night for families to purchase books.

7.  Pearl Bucks Got Talent
The “variety show” will be getting a new name this year to incorporate all of the ideas and acts. Auditions will be held after school on February 13th and dress rehearsal will be March 8th at Maple Point. Parents will be reminded that a parent must attend these events to supervise their child. The show will be March 10th. We will be looking for parent volunteers or older students to serve as stage crew.

8.  Fourth Grade Plans

The fourth grade planning is continuing. Mr. Kern and Vicki Raivitch will look into how to accommodate the students that do not have a parent attending and how to assign chaperone parents or teachers to these students.
