PEACE REGION DANCE SOCIETY

Box 5202, Peace River, Alta; T8S 1R8 ~ (780) 624-1955

Dear Teachers and Dancers,

The Peace Region Dance Society is excited to be hosting our fifth Peace River Dance Festival.

We are pleased to invite your studio to participate and also ask that you extend our invite to any other studios you think may be interested.

The Festival will be held March 09, 10 & 11, 2012. The event being held at the Glenmary High School in Peace River. The venue offers a great stage, ample changing space, as well as a separate warm up room. Dancers of all ability levels from ages 4yrs and up are invited to attend. We also have a cafeteria available including healthy snacks and a great menu for breakfast, lunch, and supper.

In recognition of their participation, each dancer will receive a medal (gold, silver or bronze) as determined by the adjudicator. Dancers will be categorized based on age (4 and up), discipline and years of experience, so that adjudicators can provide the most accurate assessment of their abilities. Dancers with an average age of 6 or less will be allowed assistance from their teachers from the wings of the stage. Solos will also be categorized by years of dance training in the particular style being performed.

Please find attached, additional documents regarding accommodations, rules, fees etc.

Soloists are also welcome to enter even if there are no groups attending from your studio. We ask only that they make arrangements for someone to press play for their entries. We will again be offering the improvisational and “dancer’s own” choreography divisions for solo entries.

All registrations will be accepted on a first come basis until our maximum spacing has been reached. Registration deadline is January 15, 2012.

The Peace Region Dance Society began hosting this festival, in order to provide dancers throughout northern Alberta and British Columbia more opportunities to dance. Geographically, we are all at a disadvantage to the opportunities presented in the larger centers. We further came to realize that this festival is also a great warm-up for dancers, as they head into the full festival season.

We truly hope that you and your dancers will consider attending and further support our goal of providing more on stage experience for the dancers in our region.

Thank you for your consideration and please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Yours truly,

Peace Region Dance Society
