“PAUSE BEFORE YOU POST” ASSIGNMENT

Find and read the PowerPoint “Pause before You Post” AND the handout “A Student’s Guide to Personal Publishing.” Both are located on my teacher web page.

Do the following with a partner (just one other person.) E-mail the completed assignment to the teacher and partner so everyone has it in their network folder.

Discussion Questions

1.  Why does it matter what I post? Don’t I have freedom of speech? If they can’t handle it, isn’t that their problem?

2.  Who sees what I post besides my friends?

3.  What are some assumptions someone could have about me based upon what I’ve posted?

4.  What is cyberbullying?

5.  Why do people do it?

6.  How might it be more hurtful than doing it face-to-face?

7.  How can we prevent it as the perpetrator?

8.  How can we prevent it as the bystander?

9.  What can you do if you are the victim?

Make three posters using Microsoft Publisher, Word or PowerPoint and inserting appropriate graphics/backgrounds. Each poster must contain at least 5 facts.
