SPEAKER BIOS

Colleen P. Lewis is a partner in the Cincinnati, Ohio and Lexington, Kentucky ALFA International Law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl, and she currently serves on the Steering Committee for the ALFA Women's Initiative and Labor & Employment Practice Groups. Ms. Lewis represents employers on a wide array of traditional labor and employment issues, including discrimination, Family Medical Leave Act compliance, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, wage and hour and National Labor Relations Act. She has extensive experience drafting Affirmative Action Plans and representing companies before the OFCCP. Ms. Lewis is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky and has handled employment litigation and labor issues in 13 states and several federal courts across the mid-west. The Cincinnati, Ohio Chamber of Commerce selected Ms. Lewis to its annual list of WE Lead 100 Wise Women and she serves as a mentor for the Ohio Supreme Court New Lawyer Program. Ms. Lewis received her B.S. and her J.D. from Northern Kentucky University.

Paulette Chapman is the Legacy Claims Supervisor for Compass Group, NAD. She is responsible for oversight of the self-administration of liability claims and the TPA program management. She also provides oversight and direction to the resolution of outstanding claims within the legacy programs of Compass. Ms. Chapman has more than 25 years in insurance and claims related programs. She earned a bachelor's of science in industrial organizational psychology from Old Dominion University. She also holds the designation for MSCC and AIC.

Dr. Fishman is the Director of the Department of Healthcare Epidemiology and Infection Control and the Director of the Antimicrobial Management Program for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. His research focuses on outcome assessment and quality management issues in infectious diseases. Specific interests include models to improve the use of antibiotics, risk factors for the emergence of resistance, the relationship between antimicrobial use and the emergence of resistance, and interventions to prevent healthcare-associated infections. He received the 1996 Abbott Achievement Award from the Infectious Diseases Society of America in recognition of his ongoing efforts to improve antibiotic utilization throughout the University of Pennsylvania Health System and for a proposal to study the effects of a comprehensive antimicrobial management program on the quality and cost of patient care in community hospitals. Additional ongoing studies include an investigation of risk factors for the emergence of drug resistant pneumococci, risk factors for emergence of fluoroquinolone resistance, a randomized controlled trial of antimicrobial management strategies, and electronic surveillance for antimicrobial errors. He is also President-Elect of Division L (Infection Control) of the American Society of Microbiology.

Stephen Hessert is a partner in the ALFA International law firm of Norman, Hanson & DeTroy in Portland, Maine, and he is the Chair Emeritus of ALFA’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. Mr. Hessert has specialized in workers' compensation defense for many years and is a frequent speaker in the Northeast on labor and workers' compensation matters. His practice has a significant concentration in Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Law, as well as in the defense of cases under the Maine Workers' Compensation Act. He is the Chair of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Maine State Bar Association. Mr. Hessert received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Bowdoin College and his J.D. from the University of Maine, where he was Associate Editor of the Maine Law Review.

Jeffrey D. Laudenbach is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation and Employment Practice Group with the ALFA International Philadelphia, PA member firm of German, Gallagher & Murtagh. He is a graduate of Lehigh University and Widener School of Law and has over 15 years experience litigating Workers’ Compensation and Employment related matters. In addition to his litigation practice, he represents and consults with clients on corporate transactional matters including real estate, employment and various other general counsel matters. Additionally, he has been a speaker for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers Compensation Section Programs and Pennsylvania Self Insured Association seminars. Mr. Laudenbach’s practice involves representing primarily self insured employers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
