Meeting for July 15th, 2003

Website: Paul says we will have website in next few days, needs to talk to Rocky, should have something to send to Ram by Friday.

Paul needs our feedback as to what we want and he will go from there. We told him what he wanted and he took notes.

Check in on projects:

Odelle:

Can’t install windows NT on her chip using Greg’s computer because it wants something deleted. Greg says to delete and reformat. Greg called avantec about the memory card, and Greg said he would order it.

Guillaume:

Almost done with hatch, but hasn’t done electrical stuff with Alan White. Greg will introduce Alan White. Alan White needs to see how much space there is for the chips then the aluminum housing with be made. Greg says finish hatch first so that Shahin can approve it. Greg says it is ok if the cable comes out from the pyronometer at an angle off the back. Greg needs to get Guillaume a fitting that goes from pyronometer to the silica gel. Greg says it is ok that the pyronometer has dust in it, but it needs to be cleaned out.

Jill:

Sensors are ordered through me and Eric (digital and analog), I haven’t heard back All Sensores if we are getting digital in time. Any day now should hear from software guy on recommended chips.

As things stand, it looks like our airspeed should have less than 1 degree Celsius error in the temperature measurements in clouds. May need wet bulb for out of cloud, still checking! Greg wants Jill to research correcting for humidity and what other research planes do, what kind of temperature errors they get. Limited to 1 hertz by OCN, so only need to do better than that. Look into other probes (size/weight).

Need to check with Physical plant…

Budget:

Have to look into if Shipping is part of our grant or separate. Guillaume and Jill might start machining the parts to save money.

Action items (things we need to do)

Greg:

Give Paul a time line

Introduce Guillaume to Alan white

Get Guillaume a fitting that goes from pyrometer to silica gel

Get Jill calculations for temperature compensation in dry air

Get Jill Zaggie so she can duplicate design

Call Hygroclip to make sure temperature sensor isn’t compensated by humidity

Order Odelle’s memory card from advantec

Jill:

Understand how humidity is effected by reduced airspeed in aircraft

Find out what other research planes do for temperature humidity measurements

Find out what variables need to be measured to infer humidity

Find out how to get 1 hertz humidity measurement

Find out if we can compensate for compression/humidity in temperature

Call physical plant Thursday if haven’t been contacted

Odelle:

Find out if shipping is part of our budget (express mail everything!)

Line items (things we need to talk about)

Discuss progress on plane
