Patron Donation Artist Bursaries 2015

Patron Donation Artist Bursaries 2015

Information and Application Form

Overview

Pavilion Theatre is delighted to announce a series of artist bursaries for 2015. The awards are made possible by the voluntary donations of generous Pavilion patrons booking their tickets online at paviliontheatre.ie. Over the past 18 months, these online donations have been allocated to a special artist fund, to enable the creation of new work and the development of artists.

We are now inviting artists – individuals, companies or collectives – from all performance disciplines, geographies and at all stages of their careers to propose projects for consideration. A number of bursaries will be awarded to successful applicants, to a maximum of €5,000 per bursary (from a total fund of €15,000). Proposals are welcome which seek support for performance projects of all types and at all stages of development, whether the work is in initial phases of research or indeed, on the cusp of production.

With the generosity of our patrons, Pavilion is committed to supporting and building relationships with artists, enabling them to create new work and develop their careers. With the organisation and its patrons investing in the work, recipients of bursaries will in turn be invited to premiere the work on the Pavilion stage, or include the theatre on future tours.

Applications are now open, and will be accepted until 5pm on 16 January 2015.

Projects that have been enabled by the Patron Donation include:

Theatre Writing and Directing Mentorship Programme: Pavilion in association with Fishamble: The New Play Company. A year-long mentoring programme for the professional development of playwrights and theatre directors with 17 participants in the Playwriting Group and 14 participants in the Director Group.

Culture Night: Performances by Chequerboard, Luke Slott, Alice Devine Not For Sale.

Future projects include

Bailed Out: Fishamble: The New Play Company and Pavilion Theatre have commissioned Colin Murphy to write a new play Bailed Out! (working title).

Monkeyshine: creates theatre experiences for children of all ages and their families and Pavilion Theatre are proud to be co-producers of Little Light which will tour from 2015 onwards

History of the Pavilion: a permanent exhibit, by writer and designer Kate Heffernan.
