Dear Parents,Welcome back for an exciting school year!! I am especially thrilled to extend a sincere welcome to all new students and families. It is my hope that you will immediately feel welcomed & at home as you become involved in the activities made available through various Columbia clubs, organizations, PTA & your child’s classroom. Some important items to note:
· We will host curriculum nights again this year. The teachers will present pertinent information about the curriculum for each grade level so this is a time for you to ask questions. Parents/guardians only please. Dates are posted on our website/Twitter/Facebook.
· The school year focus will continue to be on school, teacher & student relationships, literacy, academic achievement & student leadership through our new "Leader in Me" program. We are proud of our commitment to educational excellence & celebrate the continued growth & progress of our students.
· Our parent-student handbook will be available in your child’s planner as well as on our school’s web site. Please take time to read over this as it will answer many of your questions.
· Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives at school between 7:10-7:40 am daily. In addition, please pay close attention to the dress code section of our parent-student handbook. I respectfully request that you help us enforce all of our procedures.
· I would like to encourage you to join the Columbia PTA! Our PTA is committed to making every child’s potential a reality & we have many exciting events planned through PTA this year.
· I am always open to fresh ideas that will help to improve our school & community and make our Columbia “Astros” stronger & eventual prepared graduates for a challenging society. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
Sincerely,
Jamie Hill, Principal
