Patricia and Edward McCracken Scholarship

The Patricia and Edward McCracken Scholarship is designed to honor the lives of Patricia (Kidwell) McCracken – class of 1960, and her husband Edward(Ed) McCracken. Patricia (Patty) and Ed married in 1961 and were blessed with six children, Edward Jr.,Shelley, Marie, Debbie, Lori and Patrick. Sadly, Ed Sr. died of a stroke in November 1977 and Patty of breast cancer just two months later."A tragic early death to two young people who never had a chance to see their children grow into the great people they have become. All of their children are successful and worthy descendants of Patricia and Ed." These are the words of Don Kidwell('57) Patty's brother.

The Patricia and Edward McCracken Scholarship was founded by Dr. Sheila (Barton) Bosron, class of 1960, and Sheila’s husband Dr. William Bosron, and will be awarded annually to one or more incoming junior Scecina students.

Patty and Sheila were first cousins and both graduates of Little Flower Grade School and Scecina Memorial High School. They lived next door to each other and were best friends for their entire lives.

Patty was a member of the Scecina Band, the Father Tom Club and the CSMC (Catholic Students Mission Crusade) Club.

This Scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more incoming junior Scecina students.The Scholarship amount will range from $1,000 to $2,500, and be awarded to a student or students, who require tuition assistance either through the Godparent Program or Scecina tuition assistance.Preferably the students would be graduatesof Little Flower Grade School, but this is not a requirement for qualification. The applicants must display that they are working to the best of their ability academically and exhibit a good behavioral pattern within the School.

The students applying for this Scholarship are asked to submit a brief essay describing how they have benefited from their first two years at Scecina. The essay shall be submitted to the Director of Enrollment Management who, with the assistance of two faculty members, will determine who will be awarded the Scholarship. The essay is due by March 10, 2017. The students’ families must have completed all the necessary registration and tuition assistance applications and must qualify for tuition assistance prior to March 15th, 2017.
