Michael -
Your lab results are, overall, fine. There are a couple of issues, however. First, your homocysteine level is 13.9. This is one of the additional tests your requested we run and can be a indicator of heart disease risk. Anything above 11.4 is considered high and means you may be at increased risk. It is only one piece of the puzzle, however, and when you compare results of some of the other tests, such as your great cholesterol and triglyceride levels, it doesn't mean as much. In other words, the cholesterol and triglyceride numbers are more important indicators. I would recommend your start an over the counter supplement of folic acid daily as this can help lower the homocysteine level. Second, your vitamin D level is low at 26. The normal range is 32 to 100, with the optimal range around 50. Low vitamin D can lead to various aches and pain, as well as other issues. I recommend you start taking an over the counter supplement of 2000 to 4000 IU's per day to get the level up. We will recheck all of these results again when you return for your next annual exam in 12 months. Until then, stay healthy.

25-OHD3 indicates both endogenous production and
supplementation. 25-OHD2 is an indicator of exogenous
sources, such as diet or supplementation. Therapy is
based on measurement of Total 25-OHD, with levels
<20 ng/mL indicative of Vitamin D deficiency, while
levels between 20 ng/mL and 30 ng/mL suggest
insufficiency. Optimal levels are > or = 30 ng/mL.
