Franciscan Christmas at Greccio – December 21st

TICKETS FOR CHRISTMAS EVE MASSES will be available in the parish hall after both masses starting this weekend. These tickets are required to ensure that attendance at these masses does not exceed the fire safety requirements.

FLOWERS FOR CHRISTMAS – Parishioners wishing to help with Christmas flowers may do so by bringing their flowers (any size, shape or color) to Church or the rectory the week before Christmas.

TREE OF DREAMS – For our 7th year now our Parish’s Social Justice Committee is encouraging parishioners to support the “Tree of Dreams Project” as part of their Advent reflection. As in the past, cards are hung from trees located at the side of the Altar and at the back of the Church. Parishioners choose a card to take home & in turn give a donation to the “Friends of Honduran Children.” These gifts will help to provide a happier Christmas for the abandoned & orphaned children at Sister Rosa’s “Children’s Village”. For those parishioners who wish to support this meaningful cause, please return your donations in an envelope marked “Tree of Dreams”. Please ensure to include your name & address if you wish to receive a tax receipt. Cheques can be made out to “Friends of Honduran children”. You can learn more about the organization by going to their website, Thank you in advance for your continued support.

GETTING TO KNOW ST. FRANCIS Snapshot 159 – Hence it was not “from monastic stalls or with the carefully irresponsibility of the enclosed student” that the saint and his followers addressed the people; “they dwelt among them and grappled withy the evils of the system under which the people groaned”.

FRANCISCAN CHRISTMAS AT GRECCIO – The 1st Nativity Scene ever was instituted by St. Francis of Assisi. The Franciscan Fraternity will be enacting this in our Church on Sunday, December 21 at 2 p.m. All are invited especially the children. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

A NOTE OF APPRECIATION FROM FATHER ROBERT:

“Dear friends, parishioners of OLPH Parish………Our sincerest and deepest appreciation for the contribution we received towards our school here in Uganda, St. Brieux Model Primary School. We send you our gratitude for your love, thoughtfulness and support and pray that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We wish you a prayerful Advent season, Merry White Christmas and Happy New Year. With fond memories of you….I am your friend……….”

Fr. Robert Mugisha

WE PRAY FOR THE DEAD AND THOSE WHO MOURN THEM:

Perfecto Calizar, father of Judy Calizar of our parish, who died in the Philippines last week.

Florence Stafford, mother of Gerry McKenna of our parish, who died on Dec. 2 in Sarnia, Ont.

OLPH FOOD PANTRY – THANK YOU! Your continued response to the Food Pantry Weekend is much needed and appreciated along with all the weekly food contributions. With the economic problems upon usand the cold season coming, there is an increased demand on our emergency supplies. So thank you so much for all your donations & especially for your caring attention to this ongoing cause. Recently our supplies are very low and we sorely need coffee, tea, cereals, peanut butter, spaghetti sauces, school snacks, juices, soapsand shelf milk. The next Food Pantry Weekend Blitz will beJanuary 3/4.

THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS - (R.C.I.A.) supports and encourages the spiritual journeys of all of us. The R.C.I.A. is an ongoing process within parish life. It is designed to welcome new members into the Church and at the same time to lead every Catholic parishioner to deeper belief and renewal of his or her Christian faith. For more information please call the parish office.

THE CHATEAUGUAY VOLUNTEER CENTRE will be closed for the Christmas holidays from December 19th until January 4, 2015 inclusively. All requests for accompanied transport for the vacation period must be given to us before December 10th. The staff and volunteers wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.

O.L.P.H. MEMORIAL/BEQUEST FUND – O.L.P.H., like all churches, counts on support from its parishioners and friends to continue its mission of evangelization. Our parish has established a Memorial/Bequest Fund and would like to encourage parishioners and friends to consider this fund when preparing their wills or to remember a loved one or friend when they pass away. We offer you this unique opportunity in helping to do the Lord’s work at OLPH for future generations. For more information on this subject, please contact:
