POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE

Building 210

EFFECTIVE DATE:Immediately

SALARY:$47,850 - $55,028

SCHEDULE:8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. as directed

260 day – work year

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)

*High School Diploma or equivalent, AA/BA preferred in related field

*Experience in Building maintenance, facilities and management including but not

limited to, boilers,chillers, plumbing, electrical, roofing, grounds and custodial

*Valid Washington State driver’s license and satisfactory driving abstract

*Ability to work safely as a District-wide team

*Ability to organize and rate priorities and effectively schedule time

*Willingness to carry out directions as required

*Successful supervisory/management experience in substantive related work with the knowledge,

skills, and abilities to perform this level of supervision, including responsibility for training,

motivating, and evaluating employees

*Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly

*Must work within the designated bounds of authority and confidentiality

*Ability to plan, develop and direct major programs and direct a large staff

*Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff

*Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record

*Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships

*Ability to communicate clearly, both oral and written communications, and work effectively with staff,

students and patrons

*Ability to work unsupervised

*Three (3) years experience training, supervising and evaluating custodial/maintenance

personnel

General Duties: Supervises the Maintenance staff to meet District standards within State and Federal regulations. Supervises Departments budget within the scope of the Districts policies and procedures. Schedules personnel and equipment for the efficient operation of the Maintenance and Custodial Departments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists in supervising and assisting with the evaluations of all maintenance personnel in a consistent manner; seeks and utilizes input from building principals in the evaluation process.
  • Keeps the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial Department informed of all state regulations affecting maintenance, custodial, grounds & warehouse services and the cost of providing these services.
  • Assisting in screening, interviewing and recommending the employment of all maintenance and custodial personnel in accordance with established criteria and procedures.
  • Keeps the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial informed of all state regulations affecting maintenance and custodial services and the cost of providing these services.
  • Plans for the implementation of state and district policies, schedules and practices.
  • Recommends to the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial and Director of Support Services maintenance and custodial service programs and budgets.
  • Prepares all necessary reports in the area of custodial services
  • Maintains and monitors maintenance and custodial inventory necessary for the uninterrupted operation of departmental services.
  • Supervises staff for the accomplishment of district goals and objectives and recommends needed changes in district policies and/or procedures related to the maintenance and custodial services.
  • Supervises the maintenance of all district-owned custodial equipment for which contractual services have been arranged.
  • Develops and recommends for implementation a capital equipment replacement schedule.
  • Provides purchase specifications for purchase of all district maintenance and custodial supplies and capital equipment as required.
  • Contributes in a positive manner to the district administrative team.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial and Director of Support Services.
  • Hours of work Monday through Friday as needed and scheduled
  • Participates in the On-Call Program; including training of union personnel.
  • Assist in special events and event set-up
  • Provides assistance in assuring facilities are secure at end of shift
  • Assist in scheduling staff as directed by the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial
  • Coordinate night maintenance staff and work orders and projects
