Your next project will be to plan a party of your choosing. Throughout this assignment, we will explore invitation etiquette, dining etiquette, menu planning and budgeting. Your portfolio will consist of the following five sections: party basics, invitation, menu, entertainment and cost. At the conclusion of this assignment, you will turn in a portfolio with the information found below.

  • Format
  • Create a folder called “Party Project” in your student drive and store everything inside
  • Project parts should be labeled as follows:
  • Invitation
  • Menu
  • Grocery List
  • Invitation
  • Make one sample invitation and include it in your portfolio
  • Include 5 W’s – who, what, when, where, why
  • Include any other information pertinent to event: surprise, potluck, gift, dress, etc.
  • Menu
  • Buffet style
  • Must cover all food groups
  • Include beverage(s) and dessert in menu – in proper order as seen below
  • Soup and/or salad
  • Meat
  • Vegetables
  • Fruit
  • Bread
  • Beverage
  • Dessert
  • Include 5 entire recipes for food and one for a beverage in portfolio
  • No alcoholic beverages. Recipes cannot have alcohol in them.
  • Recipes should be for foods on menu.

  • Using the recipes you have in your portfolio, complete the “Grocery List” Spreadsheet and save a copy in your project folder
  • Do not repeat items on your list
  • Make sure you complete the amount and price columns on the spreadsheet
  • Do not forget to include units of measure with the quantity – gallons, cups, pounds, etc.
