Statement

The chief executive handles detailed, complex concepts and problems, balances multiple tasks and is expected to make rapid decisions regarding issues that affect the operation of the company in addition to remaining calm and in control at all times. S/he needs to develop a strong working relationship with the board of trustees, members, customers and staff, particularly at senior level. S/he needs to be able to convey a professional and positive image at all times.
Personal characteristics / Adaptable, ethical, excellent communicator, good at building relationships, creative / innovative, excellent leadership skills, able to foster teamwork, a strategic thinker / planner, resilient, committed.
Governance / Helps the board to articulate its role and understand its responsibilities. Advises the chair on issues relating to its performance and that of individual board members. Focusses the board on long term strategic issues and highlights risk. Works to maintain an adequate number of board members and leads on the recruitment of new board members.
Legal compliance / Understands the legal responsibilities of operating a company and ensures these are complied with
Finances / Oversees fiscal activities including budgeting, reporting and auditing. Works with the board to set and monitor goals. Develops a strategy for minimising financial risk. Ensuring the company operates within budget.
Commercial Activity / Understanding of the operation and culture of the not-for-profit sector. Helps to identify relevant information and helps to transform this into strategic plan. Understands the system for commissioning new business and maintain existing business. Can negotiate with stakeholders. Ability to raise the profile of PT via marketing strategy
Leading Change / Understanding when and what change is necessary, developing a strategic plan for consideration by the board of trustees. Leading on change management.
People Management / Ability to develop and implement new ideas and processes, foster teamwork. Ability to work with people in all walks of life. Working with the HR manager to ensure the company has sufficient staff to operate effectively and efficiently and that they are of the required standard. Understanding of employment legislation and possible outcomes of disciplinary action
Customer Experience / An understanding of how Penderels Trust relates with and supports its customers. Striving to improve this relationship at all time and ensure a positive customer journey. Implementing quality reviews and setting and maintaining standards. Ensures excellent community relations are maintained.
Key Relationships / Establishing and maintain relationships with board of trustees, director of operations, finance manager, HR manager, other senior managers, commissioners, partner organisations, staff at all levels
Technical / Overview of information technology with particular reference to data protection, cyber-crime and protection of information.

Key Deliverables

Responsible for:

all aspects of the operation and promotion of Penderels Trust

  • strategic planning and risk management
  • financial planning, budget setting and financial risk management
  • leadership and management of senior staff
  • setting quality standards and ensuring a positive customer experience
  • complying with all legislative requirements

Essential Criteria, Experience and Qualifications

  • Preferably qualified to degree level but and with a minimum of three years senior management position
  • Ability to think clearly and solve problems
  • Ability to lead change
  • Experience of marketing services and engaging employers or similar
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory, corporate and voluntary sectors
  • Ability to use information technology
  • Ability to travel nationally and work flexibly.
