Job Description

- Experience in Christian ministry, ideally in the above areas
- Passion for evangelism and commitment to Word-based evangelism
General Responsibilities
- Will be ultimately responsible to the elders.
- Will attend weekly staff meetings.
- Will have an integrated approach to team ministry.
- Will attend all Sunday Services.
- Will engage in other ministry opportunities as directed by the senior minister.
Specific areas of Responsibilities
1. Student Work
- The Student Team:
- Setting the vision for each year and developing a five year plan for student ministry.
- Recruiting and training team members for the student welcome teams on a Sunday.
- Recruiting and training team members for Nexus on Tuesday evenings.
- Administration:
- Keeping up-to-date records of the students regularly attending: the church, Nexus, Student Suppers, 1-1’s, those serving in other ministries.
- Co-ordinating the on going pastoral care for students in co-ordination with the pastoral care department.
- Maintaining and developing the student web pages on the church website, the facebook site, and making constant use of text and email facilities.
- Organising Welcome weeks.
- Ensuring Publicity for Welcome weeks, term activities, special events, is produced.
- Organising and developing the hospitality programme within the church (including: student lunches, Student Suppers, and host families).
- Training:
- Planning and delivering the Nexus programme, including the leaders’ notes, evening talks, and special events.
- Following up attendees of the Nexus programme and encouraging fringe students into it.
- Planning and delivering termly Nexus Days.
- Planning and delivering a yearly Weekend Away.
- Reading 1-1 with students.
- Developing 1-1 reading partnerships across the student congregation.
- Ensuring that students settle and serve the Highfields family and are adequately equipped for service.
- Evangelism:
- Planning and delivering term time Evangelistic opportunities / meetings.
- Developing the Student Supper scheme as an evangelistic opportunity in Cathays.
- Provide evangelism training for students.
- Actively encouraging and supporting students in the CU commitments.
- Development of use of Dalton Street for student work.
3. Accountability
- Reporting to the senior ministerfor support and feed back on the work.
- A bi-annual and annual review will provide structure for review and feedback.
Terms and Conditions
This is a permanent contract with an expected salary of £19,700 pro rata.
You will have five weeks paid holiday (pro rata).
You will be required to be a member of HighfieldsChurch.
