Dear ______,
I wanted to take a moment and reach out to you to tell you a little bit about a professional organization that I am currently active with. As a fellow home health physical therapist you understand the importance of staying abreast of the latest information and regulatory updates as well as having access to resources related to best practices and gold standards. Now more than ever, the home health industry is subject to much scrutiny and is rapidly evolving and changing. That is what prompted my decision to join the APTA and in turn, become involved with the Home Health Section (HHS).
As a member of the HHS I have access to many members’ only benefits that help me excel in my day to day practice. Here are just a few benefits I receive:
•Support, clinical resources, and mentoring in situations where you may be one of a few (or the only!) therapists at an agency;
•Networking opportunities with other home care PTs and PTAs;
•Access to vital information you need in home health through the Section Web site ( with links to APTA and CMS, the HHS Listserv where you can ask questions and discuss practice issues, and the HHS newsletter;
•Access to evidenced-based continuing education through home-study courses and programming at the Combined Section Meeting and other APTA courses;
•Representation in the legislative process so your concerns as a home health care provider are heard;
The HHS also strives to keep its members informed through their active and informative listserv. The listserv is a discussion group that functions like a bulletin board. You can post a message or question and others can read it. If they have a response, they post message in reply.The HHS also distributes their quarterly newsletter, which is delivered straight to your home or business, as well as their monthly electronic House Call Newsletter.In order to give you a little taste of the some of the resources at your disposal, I have attached a free electronic copy of our print quarterly newsletter.
While I could go on and on, I think you get my point that you really do get quite a bit of support and resources for your investment in the only professional organization that supports the physical therapy profession and more specifically, supports the home health physical therapy professional.
I hope you will take a moment to read the attached newsletter and consider becoming an active member of the APTA and/or the HHS. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time should you have any questions about the APTA or the HHS. I would be happy to share my thoughts and personal experiences with both organizations.
I look forward to speaking with you further and hopefully we will have the opportunity to connect at an upcoming event!
