JOB DESCRIPTION

PurposeWith the Site Manager, to develop the shop and achieve agreed income targets that contributeto the effective and consistent delivery of CCA’s heart and vision. To assist the manager to work with and develop our work placement volunteers according to individual needs. Create an environment where relationships can develop and shop customers receive anexcellent standard of customer service

LocationMcQueen House, 79 Silverstreet, Reading, Berks, RG1 2SU

Hours4 days per week including some Saturdays on a rota basis

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Retail

  1. Sort, price and display items, ensuresales areas are well stocked with suitable merchandise to create a successful and efficient retail environment that encourages sales and gives customers a great shopping experience.
  2. Support the manager to market the shop to maximize donations and sales.
  3. Maximise Gift Aid income from donated goods.
  4. Serve customers at till area ensuring that excellent customer service is provided at all times.
  5. Appropriately store any incoming goods.

Staff and Volunteers

1.With the Manager, participate in the recruitment, management and motivation of volunteers, ensuring appropriate training and support. Inform Manager of any staffing issues.

2.Ensure volunteers adhere to CCA’s promotion of Christian standards in the workplace and in its working relationships.

3.Attend regular support and supervision sessions with Manager.

4.Provide cover in the absence of the Site Manager.

5.Ensure appropriate support and supervision of people on work placements, e.g. from Yeldall Manor and other agencies.

Site Management and Administration

1.Ensure the site is developed to the highest possible standardand adequately secured.

2.Ensure administration duties are undertaken, e.g. in relation to sales revenue (recording and banking) and reported in line with company procedure.

3.Ensure compliance with policies and processes, e.g. health and safety; secure cash handling and confidentiality and comply with the Manager’s instructions.

General / Other

1.Be willing to play a full part in the Christian prayer life and witness of CCA, e.g. lead staff prayers on a rota basis and where appropriate, pray with members of the public about their circumstances.

2.Have adequate knowledge of CCA’s activities for customer/staff queries.

4.Carry out within reason, any other duties necessary to ensure the site’s smooth running.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
  • Experience of working in a retail environment essential
  • Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds/nationalities desirable
  • Experience in motivating and supervising others essential
  • Effective in personal time management, organisation and forward planning
  • To be effective in delegating tasks within the team
  • To be numerate, IT literateand able to record and present written information and financial records clearly and accurately
  • Full Driving licence desirable
  • Ability to be able to assess the impact of decisions on space, time and staff.
