Part-Time Praise & Worship Leader

PURPOSE:
To carry out the vision and mission of the Asbury United Methodist Church by enriching and deepening personal and corporate times of worship. The Praise & Worship Leader will accomplish this through planning and leading the Praise & Worship service at Asbury United Methodist Church, as well as leading and directing the members of the Praise Team.

Asbury is a church with approximately 550 members with over 300in weekly attendance (two traditional worship services and one Praise & Worship on Sunday morning and a Wednesday night Chapel). Our Vision: Affirming our United Methodist heritage based on Scripture, reason, tradition and experience, Asbury UMC led by the Holy Spirit is a community of faith in Jesus Christ committed to spiritual growth, social justice, outreach, and lay involvement and leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
●Plan the elements and flow of the worship service each week (and special services such as holidays) in collaboration with other church staff. This could include order of service, song selections, special music, dramas, testimonies, baptisms, Lord’s Supper, announcements, etc.
●Provide leadership, teaching and modeling for corporate and private worship in a way that encourages others to participate in authentic worship.
●Communicate plans for services to the Tech Team, Praise Team, and anyone else involved in the service.
●Direct weekly rehearsal times for both instrumentalists and vocalists, to include prayer time, announcements, and regular feedback from previous services/events.
●Provide sheet music and recordings of new music to the Praise Team
●Prepare worship song lyrics slide shows and upload them weekly into the presentation software.
●Direct updating, setting up, fixing and running stage sound.
●Participate in monthly Worship Committee and Word Group meetings.
●Recruit quality volunteers for Sound and Projection Teams. (Tech Committee will train volunteers)
●Find quality replacements and complete all needed preparations whenever unable to be present at worship.
●Provide opportunities for fellowship and enhance relationships between team members to increase team effectiveness.
●Communicate with Pastor, Staff, and respond to calls and emails in a timely manner.
●Other duties as assigned.

●Involved in the heart and life of Asbury United Methodist Church (events, activities, groups, etc.)
●Be able to encourage the development of Praise Team members in their gifts, talents and their relationship with Christ.
●Have the ability to create and foster a team environment and sense of unity among team members.
●Strong leadership and organizational skills.
SALARY: Hourly wage dependent on musical background and experience. Starting at less than 10 hours a week.
