Sustainability Student Architects x 4

Part-time - Hours of work (circa 6 hrs per week) will be variable.

Rate of Pay: University Grade 2 (£8.27 per hour)

Sustainability at the University of Leeds has a high profile and is being embedded throughout the organisation. As part of its aim to help expand sustainability knowledge and engagement across the student community, the Sustainability Service is now seeking to appoint four Sustainability Student Architects who will provide support for student engagement activities, events and other sustainability campaigns/initiatives.

You will be a current University of Leeds student and have a personal interest in sustainability. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to interact well with others. You will be able to work effectively as part of a team, but also on your own initiativeand have an enthusiastic and pro-active approach. Experience of working in a customer focused environment and/or experience of working on events and campaigns would be an advantage.

You will need to be flexible and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Background
Sustainability at the University of Leeds has a high profile and is being embedded throughout the organisation. These changes are being driven through our ambitious Integrated Sustainability Strategy. This strategy integrates research and innovation, student education and operations; with the aim of driving collaboration and inspiring change.

The Sustainability Strategy is based around four core themes, Embedding Sustainability through Collaboration, Positive Partner in Society, Knowledge and Capacity, and Managing Resources.

The aim of this role is to support the University Sustainability programme with particular emphasis on student engagement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of a network for students who wish to engage further with sustainability. This will involve for example, representing the Sustainability Service at meetings and events.
  • Promoting the Sustainability Service at Open Days, in faculties and schools and other partner events throughout the year.
  • Supporting the marketing of the service and communication of the Sustainability Strategyby, for example, using social media to publicise events or contributing to the Sustainability Service blog.
  • Supporting student facing activities when necessary.
  • Assisting with sustainability campaigns and projects when necessary.
  • To be aware of Health and Safety issues and to take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of yourself and other persons at all times.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed.
